To be fair the real problem is not mandatory TLS, it’s mandatory WebPKI certs: self-signed certs are not a problem in a local docker container, and is not worse than unencrypted.

Looks interesting, I did'nt know Purism did hardware tokens, so thanks. The integration with the TPM, disk encryption and login in their machines looks amazing ! No FIDO2 though :(. Maybe in the future.

Note that you can have linear types (which is what gives you what you're talking about) in managed languages. You can have them as an extension in Haskell for exemple. Rust is the only mainstream-ish language to really use them, though
