Everyone who currently has a carryover balance is getting paid out, so I don't see how that would help costs during a layoff unless that layoff is 6+ months out. Personally I carry a balance of close to 4 weeks (my current max accrual)

Japan has had issues with finding workers to support their elderly population. No, it isn't a bad place. But yes, there are issues to solve that come with an aging population and a shrinking population.

This is just... wrong? We want smart people here in the US. We should poach them and entice them to come here by all reasonable measures. Plus, people aren't having kids like they used to. So you need to replace population somehow. See

It's not a big deal for consumers. It's a huge deal for STEM departments in universities (a software upgrade for a hundred-thousand dollar machine can sometimes be thousands of dollars).

Really? My XPS 15 gets 4 hours easy and it is usually closer to 6. Also it actually supports 3 (!) 4k displays at 60hz if you include the built in screen. With the TB16 dock it is a joy to use.

Packages.microsoft.com is reachable over https. There is also a gpg key that can be imported. The person who put this image together chose not to use either. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/administ
