If it is truly facebook only, that eliminates this for me. Too bad.

Looks really interesting. I mainly use C while working on embedded code, how applicable is this book to embedded C? If this isn't a great resource for embedded C, can anyone recommend a different book?

Tesla Motors Palo Alto, CA | Full time | Manufacturing Test Engineer I know most of the job postings here are looking for software positions, but I'm sure there's some people with hardware and test experience as well. Tesla Motors is lookin

Just wondering if I should fill it out a second time, since I never saw a confirmation screen. I understand it will take some time to ship, just want to know the application actually made it into the database! :)

Did anyone get an email confirmation after applying for the dev kit? After I hit the button, it reloaded to the home page, and I haven't seen any emails.

The news is hitting me harder than I expected. More than just the products he made, I feel that he directly effected my life. I wouldn't be where I am in my life today, certainly would have the job I have today, if it wasn't for the years I

This is a fantastic explanation. I've always had trouble "getting" imaginary numbers.... even though I've had to use the fairly often as an Electrical Engineer. This is the first time they've made intuitive sense to me.

Pretty cool. The github page has some good information that would be nice to have on domaincli.com (like who's registering the domain, how payment is handled, etc.)

T-shirts were one of the ways that I could tell the culture at Apple was changing. When I started interning there, there would be a new T-shirt for every new project we would ship. The engineers in my group would all where T-shirts from pro

This is pretty great. Any idea why it doesn't show prices for driving though? I'd love if I could enter the average MPG of my vehicle, and have it show an estimate of driving costs, so you can compare against flying for shorter trips.

I have this exact same issue. My nickname "nat" can be short for both Nathaniel and Natelie. And apparently there is a Natelie with the same last name as me, and she seems to use my email address with a dot in it. I've been getting frequent

Interesting UI, but it seems to only show my inbox, not all of my other labels in gmail. I filter a lot of messages, so my inbox alone isn't too useful. Nice start though.

How often do people recruit through cold-calls anymore? I was at one of the companies mentioned, and was contacted by a recruiter from another one of the companies menteioned, but they contacted me through linked-in, not through a cold-call

It asked me to update flash, and restart my browser. After that, I just get a grey screen. Edit: Safari 5.0.2, Snow Leopard, Click-to-flash installed, but with logic.ly whitelisted.

I like the site. Here's an issue: If I choose "cars and trucks" in craigslist, and want to put in a max price, it won't let me click "search" unless I type something in the search box. I might want to look for everything under a certain pri

Hmmm. I grew up in SF. Parents didn't have money, went through the public school system. Public schools here aren't that bad, as long as you apply yourself and get into the magnet schools. (Still live here too. The dilemma I have now is tha

How is "starting a small business" different from a "startup"? Isn't every startup a small business, by definition, until it gets big?

Most coffee shops in this city have wifi. Ritual Roasters is pretty much the prototypical startup-hangout coffee shop. Also, this coming week is WWDC, there's probably a lot of mac-related parties that will be happening.

I think you made the same points as me, but put it much better. The purchasing jump for consumers is going to be cameraphone -> dslr, not cameraphone -> point and shoot

I don't think anyone is arguing that cameraphones will replace SLRs though. The ad was advertising point and shoot cameras. Most of which have tiny sensors. They might be good quality, but only marginally better than the best of the camerap

I saw this ad in SF a few days ago, and had similar thoughts. The ad is specifically showing a point-and-shoot camera, not an SLR. Point-And-Shoot cameras might be better than most cell phone cameras now, but I'm not convinced they are bett

I know that Epicenter is a very popular coffee shop/bar that a lot of coders go to. Are you looking for a place to work, or to meet people, or what? And how long are you in town for?
