As an active developer with apps in the store etc, I don't like upgrading xcode until it's a final release. I've used GMs and betas too many times and then found out I can't submit code built from it. It's really annoying, and I'm not about

It's worse than that. The Manager communicated their BAD IDEA very well, and the employees obeyed. It's more of a bad manager situation, NOBODY is misinterpreting orders. Managers are just not understanding what they want (my only problem i

There's money back and forth between these companies all the time. It's just behind closed doors for 90% of it. Patent suits are the equivalent of tabloid coverage of a public argument. It could very well be resolved behind closed doors lik

It's nice that more people can afford a shiny thing now. But the iPhone has been pretty much market price for a long time now. I just don't see the touting that "poorer" people can afford a smart phone as anything other than marketing. Henr

Are consumers in third world countries really saving tons of money on android? Anyone with subsistence living won't buy a smart phone. You're inevitably implying that you're saving the money of someone middle class somewhere. Hardly as nobl

The manufactures that put Android on their devices are not mom and pop electronics firms. So the implication that this is somehow shifting money to poorer people is kind of ridiculous. Unless you mean the top 1% richest people in those coun

Yes, you're right. All of this is going to the third world. What? Don't start believing that Android is CHARITABLE. It's a different business model. And this patent case is just a bunch of huge companies suing each-other. None of these comp

Unfortunate: "Enables development of iOS apps for private use in homes, schools and offices" I assume this implies that you shouldn't expect any apps in the store to be compatible with this cable.

Seems like an argument that is more emotional than rational. I never had trouble getting signed up though there were steps in the process that delay things. Why does the author say that it's pointless to wait for the financial information t

Just wait until this happens and it's not an artist who did it. Everyone here saying it's no big deal will do a 180. It's not his intent but his actions.

TL;DR Bitcoins are possibly even more flawed than any other kind of currency. There is one person who controls the flow of Bitcoins and can unmake transactions it doesn't like.

I trust Apple for many things, but not that. Patenting ideas is something that is certainly not always done for sake of using the tech. So I wouldn't assume they're going ahead with this. Likely an engineer came up with the idea and they pa

I haven't jail broken in a while because I don't have a need for tethering. If I go on a trip where I need it I will JB. And if Apple ever does this I will JB it too. If they somehow prevent JB'ing I will switch to another device.

Not so much the golden ratio itself but the fact that some icon uses it? Link an article that goes in depth about the golden ratio. But what designers are doing with icons? Totally disinteresting.

I get the impression that designers just use the golden ratio as a very quick way to choose different sizes for objects and layouts. It's really not that interesting.

It's true. They should act as if they don't like you and can't be bothered. Did you read that WSJ article where they unveiled that they aren't trying to directly sell to you? Oh, it's this one.

I think this should not come to any surprise to iOS developers. People use the reviews page as a bug report page. For apps I've worked on we got way more negative reviews for particular bugs than we ever got emails reporting said bugs. Ther

No that doesn't make sense. As a developer you don't want to start at 0 reviews every time there is a OS update. Reviews are pretty important, and if it periodically looks like you don't have them it would be very bad. Currently they roll o

You're right, every Apple customer watches hours of keynotes before purchasing the device. It's not Steve Job's explanation that makes them so understandable. The device itself explains its own purpose better than any other device.

MS has been humiliated by Apple for over a decade now. Bill Gates wrote an entire book about the home of the future. And how digital devices would rule it. Who came across and actually did that? iPod, iPhone, iPad and the AppleTV are all ve
