Human capital far outstrips natural capital in terms of value. Geography has some importance obviously, and Africa does face significant risk due to warming from climate change. What is really needed in Africa is infrastructure, more advanc

Fwiw, I hated growing up in a suburb precisely due to the inability to get anywhere without being driven. I had to rely on my parents any time I wanted to see my friends. Having a back yard to play in wasn't much of a consolation.

If you break consciousness down to its most basic element, qualia, I think it's plausible that even very simple systems might be conscious. Not conscious in the way humans or animals are conscious though. Perhaps consciousness is just

How do robots impede people with disabilities? People are just making up scenarios as an excuse to oppose something new and unfamiliar. This all strikes me as completely dishonest. If you want to avoid obstruction, just fine the owners of t

Except those things didn't work. Well, I guess child labor did in the short term sense. However, slavery, feudalism, aristocracy, and fascism were all remarkably inefficient, and only able to maintain their existence through force.

Shopfiy has risen as a competitor, giving independent businesses an alternative means of transacting with customers. Amazon has plenty of competition. eBay is another.

Why should the government intervene? It's called competition, and Amazon is winning. Some day someone will do the same to them. The government should merely enforce a level playing field and prevent market manipulation.
