Stable diffusion cost only 1 million, that's like 5 marketing people for SF salaries. Not sure they'd achieve better results than SD got them.

People keep hyping this automatic UI but having tried it it's honestly so awful. Can't believe people are saying it's better than dreamstudio

This is cool but are people actually getting stuff done with these models? I'm enthusiastic about their potential too but after playing with it for a day I'm at a loss for what to use it for anymore at this point

Probably because they're all compiler geeks and this is a good excuse to learn two birds with one stone

Excited for Google to have gotten this kick in its rear and might finally do some really interesting publicly available things in ML.

If you're willing to go for graphics as good as minecraft (best selling game of all time mind you, even in 2023) it's just as feasible as in 2011, in fact it's a lot easier (and hardware a lot more forgiving). People care muc

Feels kind of discouraging to think in 10 year timespans nowdays when it seems fairly clear that looming on that timescale will be massive changes in how software is gonna be done (hence that effort won't bear fruit at the end of it).

Sure but learning a framework like unity or godot is it's own massive investment (which can be taken away from you ala this article), and doing game dev isn't a part time job you do so if you're gonna spend your life on it be

I would hope people just go back to writing engines from scratch. It's really not that hard and unlocks being able to do unique non cookie cutter things which in the end games are supposed to contain.

Threatening a guy for making an open source version of replit sounds pretty crummy in my eyes.

Interestingly this has been a card in their hands for more than a decade now, ever since the first ML race gun shot of CNNs came into play. It's only now that they can make use of it for extremely powerful models. I wonder if they actu

More like FTX-supported. They got half a billion in investment from them according to an earlier blog post by Anthropic.

The counter argument is that it's a growing market where any early entrants will be lifted with the tide and can probably yield enough profit from spillover hype for investors to make their investments back.

I think we should all basically come to a consensus on the idea that it's morally right to steal/train from chatgpt (or any other model) given that the whole shoggoth wouldn't be a thing without all our data to feed it.

The idea that laws can't stop ML research is insane. We've barely had open source progress on these things for 5 years due to the "safety" propaganda. Imagine if they were actually illegal to work on, we'd get nothi

I don't even have it for chat. It's insane to me that you'd let your attention be stolen away that easily at any given moment (don't understand how people get deep hard work done when that's a constant risk).

Reminder that they read your code as part of this which then feeds their models. Basically you're paying to replace yourself long term.
