I feel like I am an official promoter for this book on HN but I most certainly am not. The book, Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer is one of the most interesting books I had read. I read many books after that but nothing left

People all over USA love to shit on California but one has to recognize their might in higher education. Some of the best universities in the world are in CA. I use Jupyter a lot and congrats to the winning team.

Some personal thoughts: I got downvoted for answering some simple questions at stackoverflow.com for encouraging low quality questions. This was discussed in the article. I can see why some people can get hostile as some questions are frame

I had the “pleasure” of using one in Germany. I had the worst sense of dread when I was getting into and out of them. But I think I just needed to get used to them I guess.

The "Amateur" is a PhD student now and has lot of citations on his google scholar. I am happy for him to have such a good impact on the field even though he started late. https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=f

I am really glad that you are working for MLB.tv now. You seemed to have liked baseball when you were 12 and now you are working at MLB.tv.

I might be wrong or I am not getting your meaning but I do think consonants can be “mixed”.Say విక్రమ .But I think we are considering mixing differently.

Do you have any other book that can be considered as an alternative with some rigor but still be approachable to a beginner?

I was looking at an echo dot for the first time. my roommate is using it and our location is a small town 35 miles away. We tried to set the location through voice and then through the app but both didn’t work. We just gave up after wards t

He is being sardonic. UPS employs some of the best minds in optimization. The case you mentioned is probably not that complicated for UPS.

I should have worded my response better. What I meant was TSPs are intractable. But the author used the word infeasible. In optimization, infeasible and intractable convey different meanings.

I am sorry. By small I meant more like 20 cities. You can formulate a simple optimization problem and solve it with lot of commercially available solvers if you have few cities. The point i was trying to make is that TSPs are not infeasible

> The computation of the single best answer for what is known as the traveling salesman problem is famously infeasible. I think this statement is not true. TSP can be solved to optimality when the number of cities is small^. GuRoBi and C

Just a hypothetical. Can Google say to all the phone manufacturers that you can only use play store services if you are not going to make any customizations and hence ensuring that the updates are not in the phone manufacturer's hands

How different is this from Intel's vtune amplifier? I used vtune amplifier to get the memory profiles for some c++ code I had written before.

Sorry to nitpick as I thought something was slightly off with your statement. The largest train is Dibrugarh-kanyakumari Vivek Express although it's a weekly train. The train you'd mentioned is longest daily train.

I really enjoyed his style of going back and forth between present time and history. His style of connecting all the dots in evolution of cancer diagnosis and research is mesmerzing. Can't wait to read his other book, The Gene.

As someone who speaks Telugu as their first language, I am ashamed to admit I don't know how to write numbers in Telugu, let alone the fractions. Though I had learnt how to read and write Telugu, even in school, one is never taught how
