Seems like this addresses a lot of the problems with intro.js. Thanks!

Thanks. I like what seems to be the differentiating feature here -- highlighting the actual elements on the page rather than pointing at it. I'm looking forward to the pull requests that fix some of the style issues (next button etc, as men

What's your toolchain for creating svgs? Seems like every time I look at doing this I still have to download some weird third party shareware to convert my photoshop stuff to SVG.

I just started looking at putting together a tutorial, so this is quite timely. Would have been nice if it had a little more meat. Thanks.

The password hashing stuff should be really nice in the long run--at least when it's widely used. PHP in particular seems to have a lot of bad home brew implementations out there, so it'll be nice to have a better default.

This is what I'd be really interested in seeing--a list of good seedbox providers.

Sometimes people need to be reminded of this. A lot of the representation the press gives seems to imply that people simply walk into money. As usual, pg gives some perspective.

Where's the story here? As education expands all top-tier job markets become more competitive. Science isn't and shouldn't be any different, particularly with the reduced levels of funding available.

Looks pretty nice. For what it's worth, it seems like a lot of the other players in this space have gotten popular by providing tutorials for usage with Rails, PHP, etc. Might be worth a few paragraphs.

I'm not sure how well you can really obscure it anyway. Anyone who knows what they're doing can still get at the source.

I had to change the ciphers in nginx a while ago, and was absolutely amazed at how much faster it became. Good tips.

I get what you're saying, but the thing is that it's really not difficult to get running. Especially on a Mac. Especially now that we have bundler and such. The only thing one really has to manage is ruby versions, and that can be done with

While I'm interested in this (on a similar note, heroku's postgres app has been great for me), it seems like having to install and manage Rails is an important thing for new people to learn. This is especially true if one wishes to push cod

I'm not sure that _any_ intro course goes much into this stuff. That's why we take more courses beyond this one if we need more information.

I'm doing this too, and it's funny because one of the things I originally liked about OS X was that the UNIX roots allowed me to run my dev environment locally. Still, Vagrant makes this all pretty easy.
