Hmm, I've experienced the same thing. My hunch is that this is related to spending long periods of time in front of a computer, with internet addiction gradually making my ability to focus worse and worse. I honestly think I was bett

I think it's incorrect to blame the current depression entirely on Covid-19. Economists have been predicting a depression by the end of 2020 or 2021 for a while - on HN I remember lots of discussions around the inverted yield curve.

If a platform involves tracking huge amounts of personal data and then making decisions off of that data, incompetence makes it more dangerous, not less. LAPD has been using Palantir to track people in poor and working class neighborhoods i

There's no such thing as ethical consumerism. That image of "ethics" and "sustainability" is just branding to appeal to woke liberals who have the disposable income to buy their groceries at Whole Foods.

The coronavirus gives Amazon an excuse to use to order employees to stay home if they try to organize their coworkers. It's not a coincidence that Amazon only ordered this employee to stay home after seeing that he led a strike. If A

Who decides whether blue collar workers deserve bathroom breaks? Why do you treat the free market as the sole authority on what working conditions people "deserve"? You're arguing that shaving off a couple minutes a day is w

Can you explain why you only had skepticism towards the worker in this situation, and none towards Amazon? I'm glad you reevaluated your position once you had more information, but I'm genuinely confused by the thought process in

It's a derailment because the people bringing this up aren't actually organizing towards helping homeless men. These two issues, women's shelters and men's shelters, aren't actually in contradiction with each other

What would "illicit testing" even mean? Any lab with the right equipment can test for the virus. There was an article in the NYT the other day talking about how these celebrities got tests before everyone else, and in some of th
