Voice control is about the only way my wife and kids interact with hass (in spite of other options). I (re)wrote an app for interfacing with Alexa[0] while my son was a neonate because it made such a difference to be able to verbally turn o

I've looked at similar devices which had promising smaller trials but failed to show effectiveness in larger trials / systematic reviews. Will keep my eye out, but would probably wait for better research. https://pubmed

Yes, please fix this title -- I assumed we were talking about a different flag. Removing the ability to `rm -rf` (without several extra characters) would be a pain.

Also citation needed for a society >= 500 years ago with life expectancy of 70 years, infant mortality excluded. Sepsis, injuries, and diseases of adulthood should not be excluded, we're talking about passing on of genes here.

Do you take these anecdotes seriously? If so, with what frequency do you think this would happen? And what evolutionary pressures would lead to their occurrence with any frequency?
17. 287.▲
    by n8henrie 3y ago

That is all beside the point of whether or not evolutionary pressures would optimize for longevity or for "good enough for passing on genes."

How long were these ancestors of ours living, while eating this idealized diet of which you speak? While I agree that that evolutionary context is interesting to consider for nutrition, I don't think that it stands on its own as incont

Absolutely. One of my favorite nutrition papers is titled something like "an insulin index of 1000 kJ portions of common foods" -- should be easy to Google, and worth a read.
