The amount of transactions performed by bitcoin is laughably low. It performs around 10 transactions per second. This is not even enough to handle the transactions of a small city, yet it consumes as much electricity as an ENTIRE large city

There is a lot of misinformation about the situation here, mainly because of the misleading title. The game created by the Chinese company is not a clone of the game created by Playsaurus. Here is the game created by Playsaurus: http:/

For many of these things indeed it is about the internal implementation and not about the language itself (although the language itself has many features limiting optimizations as well). The main problem is that modules are compiled against

The thing is they could have done so much more with breaking changes. They could have fixed the broken module system, removed the GIL or improved performance by an order of magnitude by removing language features that almost nobody uses but

Indeed, that is the reason character fields have traditionally had a length in RDBMS. However, many of these optimizations get broken by unicode support. Consider a CHAR(1) field. Without unicode support this field is always 1 byte, and the

Panicing is not handling anything, it is just crashing the program. Unless you can catch the panic, in which case it's just another name for an exception. Not handling failed allocations except for on large allocations is just asking f

The exact same things are done constantly by big companies (Google, Apple, etc.). The only difference is you have much less recourse when it happens there. At least the government gives you rights you can fight for in court.

The same way all contracts work in every civilized country. If you sign a contract and violate it you are penalized in some way, usually that way is specified in the contract (e.g. fined a certain sum of money). Not sure how this can in any
