Making true, lifelong friends is like planting seeds. People you meet and stay in touch with for the next 20 years will undoubtedly by wonderful friends in time, but people you meet today will not be the same as people you have known for 20

As someone who went to a bootcamp a good while ago...I am now formally pursuing a technical masters program which has an angle on AI(just enough to understand where to apply it, not doing any research).

I think people get complacent and if it a cut that one does fairly regularly, I could see someone saying on the 1000th cut "eh lets keep it off for this one time" and then it just becomes a thing.

Had a fun experience at work this week: tsunami warning goes off on the west coast while we are all in a remote meeting. I say that there has been a large earthquake off the coast. 30 seconds go by and coworker posts a link to a news articl

Very beginner woodworker here, but dados(or any kind of groove are the ones that immediately come to mind. Essentially anything that has the work piece going over the blade, but not cutting through completely.

Psychohistory is already a study of the past and why it happened the way it did, so maybe it could help answer your question, but it isn’t the ideology you’re seeking. There is a reason that advertising and media influence is everywhere ,

Percentages are not enough to get a full picture. If I make 100k a year, the person making 50k will need to see a 2x increase in their percentage gain to see the same amount gained in currency. I would take a small bump of a large number ov

As a developer that got into the industry in 2015, I did not feel that way at all. It felt like everyone was piling into to tech at that time.

Time will tell, maybe for the people that can create feedback loops for themselves where AI fills the gaps, but at the aggregate level I don’t think AI will move the needle. More likely people will use AI translation as a crutch, rather tha

The initial comment makes the 2 mutually exclusive. You reframing it doesn't change what the original comment said. You also blew past the more important of the 2 points: that regular people care about their livelihoods as well.

This is a weird take, assuming the average researcher cannot be an average Joe, and also that average people aren't also worried about their livelihood...you might want to revisit your view of the world.

Closure is important! I do feel that I get in the mindset of saying “I’m gonna get back to this later” and it just never happens, meanwhile taking precious mental capacity every time I think about doing that thing. It’s okay to say “I tried

Yeah totally, I don’t disagree with that assessment. I would say it’s not productive to try to complete every single thing we start. It was just the headline snippets that were funny to me.

All we know is the tools that were given to the students, not how they used them, and it’s a fairly limited study on top of that, without knowing anything about how other variables were controlled. That being said, I wouldn’t be surprised i

I think it depends on how the tool is used. If a student is just plugging in the problem and asking for the answer, there is clearly no long term benefit to this. If the student is trying to understand a concept, and uses GPT to bounce idea

I have heard that people who lose weight quickly will typically look older due to the development of wrinkles and the development of harder features. Skin simply doesn't have time to keep up with the weight loss. I don't know if
