Indeed - but it's much easier to get a collective of people to discuss something once in general terms ("property rights") than every little decision ("we can't build the factory until we agree on the color of the p

It makes no sense in a world where collectives of people can make sane decisions in a timely manner. We don't live in that world - for anything to get done, there must be a very small group of people with authority to decide what color

Very interested in this, if I could find something 50% faster with 80% the functionality/maturity of Rails I’d do all new projects in it.

From your use of kilometers, I’m guessing you’re not in the US. Feels like that’s a double whammy because: 1) The insane distances in the US are what make a Leaf unusable as an only-car, reducing demand (and thus resale price) 2) I can’t do

Personally, I went from a fully-owned 1997 near-mint Honda Civic to a 2014 Leaf. It handles all my driving needs (and the family still has a gas car for the _very_ rare long trip). I ran all the numbers in a big spreadsheet and determined t

A Used Nissan Leaf with ~70-80mi range can be had in the US in the $6-10k range. My family has two, they're amazing for everything within a ~30mi radius (which, it turns out, is 98%+ of driving we do)

GP is probably talking about EV main batteries, not the lead-acid 12v accessory/starter batteries.

You know what this means... there was some dude in a boat this morning who was very disappointed he didn't get to shoot holes in a rocket. I would pay lots of money to have that job.

It's a difference between "definition of success" and "the plan". They can't just say "we want to get off the pad and whatever happens afterwards, meh", they have to point it somewhere. So they plan o

I wonder if, after seeing that performance, they'll decide to weaken (or more accurately, remove extra weight from) structure they don't need.

He's been saying this for literally years. That the pad is stage 0 and if they don't blow up the pad, they're happy. I think he said the exact same thing about the first Falcon Heavy launch.

My guess was for this flight it was "once off the pad, we will fly as long as it doesn't leave the envelope" since it's all about data collection.

More likely, holddowns on the pad until everything was stabilized. Probably takes a few seconds to vector/throttle the other engines to compensate for the lost ones. E: convery's reply below makes much more sense.

I don't know why you're being downvoted, I think this phone service is amazing and I'm saving it to my contacts. I now wish to find a bunch of them with different 'accents'.

All speculation - attacker could have been spooked by something after the stabbing, could have been high on $substance. Could have been a hit. Not really profitable for us to speculate on it in this thread, IMO.

How are you measuring this? SO often sees a drop in traffic on/around spring break. However, there is a broader falling trend in traffic dating back to ~2019, if I remember correctly.
