Well, the mainstream media certainly has not exaggerated the adverse events. If you know something is definitely not exaggerated, the distribution falls between “perfectly accurate” and “downplayed”. My money is on some level of “downplay

Lightning is anything but stupid. It’s small, has no breakable bits in the phone side of the port, and is pretty ubiquitous. I don’t have to worry about whether this cable and charger support the Lightning 2-a (IIV) Gold standard ala USB-C.

Nah, we all know that there are dozens of entities out there who would _love_ to publish the "Sunk US sub causing elevated radiation levels!" article. The incentive is high. So the absence of the report does mean something.

Yes, without a doubt. Other than messing up a bunch of land, Chernobyl wasn’t even that terrible outside of a certain radius.

But in the scheme of things, that’s fine. There are several nuclear subs and munitions at the bottom and there aren’t reports of terrible radiological effects.

The “out and about only because of a pardon” bit is false. From Wikipedia: > In 2012, D'Souza contributed […] Two years later, D'Souza pleaded guilty in federal court to one felony charge […] He was sentenced to eight months i

If it was seen as a high priority, we could do it. They put people on the moon in the 60’s in less time than people claim it’d take to build a power plant today. Ingredients for a quick transition to nuclear: 1. Gov’t must be willing to ign

Has this been tested with silencers specifically? Seems like it’s nasty both directions; if you usually run a silencer on your home defense gun, they’d get you for that. If you don’t, and you take the time to put one on, it undermines your

They make pretty decent silencers when affixed to the muzzle of a gun, and suddenly become an NFA item. I know a guy with a diesel repair shop who bought a “suspicious” number of filters off Amazon at once. A couple suits showed up at his d

Nope, they’re an NFA item. Highly regulated, you can get men in suits at your door for the offense of buying several oil filters at once.

No, it goes KABANG (instead of KABLAAAAAANG). There are a ton of YouTube videos of people testing this, they’re usually a pretty fun watch.

But both the M1 mini and M1/2 Air can drive two displays total? I think it’s clear they just took what’s usually the internal display output and routed it to HDMI in the Mini.

Shouldn’t we be looking to people who have a track record of making correct predictions? If someone is an expert, but is consistently wrong, I’d stop listening to them.

It doesn’t run at 127hp for an hour, you’d be going stupid fast. My Nissan Leaf (which is decidedly more brick-shaped than a Tesla) cruises at 50mph at something like 10-15hp, or less than 12kW. It takes surprisingly small amounts of power

The Americas were divided among people (original inhabitants, and later colonies), and many countries & people weren’t recipients. But I’d still say that humanity has reached America.

So, how would you define “taking humanity to Mars”? Surely you don’t have to take all the humans to Mars. We’d all agree that Europeans (non-exclusively) colonized the Americas, but not all Europeans went and not all had the opportunity.
