Is MySQL a common choice with Node.js? Don't see many people talking about SQL and Node.js. Anyone using this combo got something to say about their experience with it?

Maybe I'm just not the audience for Meteor, because while it looks like a great project but as a nodejs guy, the fact that it hides itself away from the platform and turned away from the fantastic npm makes me sort of weary about it as a wh

For that to really work I'd imagine the people using your API would need to be able to monetize? So you're basically shifting the challenge of turning users into value to a 3rd party. I don't have anything to back this up other than a gut f

Semi-related on Win7 (Pro/Ultimate/Enterprise only) you can use the group policy object editor to launch something other than explorer.exe as the shell. In the past I've used this to launch directly into Steam. My friend has a spare PC in h

I'm curious, how far back does 'First Ever Annual Loss' run? I remember hearing Nintendo used to make toys and playing cards, long before the NES, does this refer to pre video game Nintendo?

I'm from Perth as well, and this is almost word for word how I respond when people ask me about Perth. I get the feeling that there's much cooler stuff happening elsewhere more and more these days.

Aside from this, can anyone in the know give some info about the startup community/hacker culture in Japan. Is there one? I'm in Australia, and I've always had a suspicion that China or Japan would be the closest hub of innovation and inter

Straight up these mostly seem like power user features, which has no place in an interface for every day users. I feel like they might maybe be onto something with Metro, but the new explorer is two steps backwards.

I strongly disagree with what Ted wrote, but I really wish he would come out and enter a dialog with the community. There's a thread on the mailing list, twitter, and blog responses floating around now, but no substantial effort by Ted to r

Thanks for this! Any chance you'd consider writing a full blog post later down the line about your experience with this stack? I'm working on a node/backbone/mongdb (I don't grok coffeescript) app at the moment, and any real world apps and

First thing that struck me was professional designers probably wouldn't use this, they're likely not willing to give up complete design control to a wysiwyg tool, and most have preferred cms and tools. So with that said, seems the best targ
