The problem with OTR is the lack of support for group chats. There have been multiple proposals (mpOTR, SCIMP, OMEMO, etc.) but nothing's caught on yet.

In my experience it's definitely been about lack of time more than anything else. And why become an expert in a field that's not your own? Rather get an expert in! Collaboration is always something that's strongly emphasised
