Define "better experience." 1.5 hours to get running again? 1? In exchange for needing to run C? How many hours would it take to build a Node app equivalent in C, I wonder.

> time to run it after not touching it for 4 years > Two hours of my life gone... Two hours of work after 4 years sounds ... perfectly acceptable? And it would have run perfectly right away if the node version was specified, so a good

The question of how to improve the google experience for users has been clear for years, possibly a decade. The question that remains unanswered is how google can do so without compromising customer revenue.

Great point. Vonnegut comes to mind in literature. In one of his novels, he even grades his other works A-F based on how good he thinks they were. His grades seem remarkably accurate, too, given my subjectivity as a reader, and his bias as

Your potential customers are the ones to ask. The opinions here will be varied, and unhelpful. Unless your target market is HN folks. If it is, you're absolutely in the right place and ignore everything I said.

had a lot of fun as a kid trying to figure out a working ram pair pattern among 16 RAM sticks to get a Sparc 2 "pizza box" to boot. After a couple of days, she booted! Rewarding.

This just sounds like Hobson's choice. There's only one right answer, and Google is making it on behalf of the user. Fine.

We switched from Google Workspace to Notion around 2018. It worked really well as a company wiki. A lot of the exec team lived in there. The most painful part, the part that led to us switching back, was how painfully slow Notion was. Thank

Agreed, but that goes back to defensibility. WP Engine has been doing their thing since 2011 without a peep from Matt. He should have been issuing cease and desists, etc. back then.

Perfectly acceptable to make that claim, which would be a ToS violation. Why couch it as something else? if WP Engine contributed to source, would they suddenly be allowed to rack up API and CDN bills?

Given the age and ubiquity of Wordpress, I am shocked at the relative immaturity of Matt's communication skills. He thinks the world has all the historical understanding and nuance of the situation. Why would they? This looks like a wo
