I own a freestyle RGB split keyboard and it's the best I've used since the OG Microsoft Natural kyboards for ergonomics. They're also comparatively better priced than others of its kind.

interesting. In case of plasma displays, the consumer ones used to be the more expensive by a wide margin.

Back in the day you could buy a commercial display Plasma, intended for trade show booths or display walls, as your home TV. Does that type of thing not exist more ?

It’s not the same system. The message catalog based method requires entering your message strings in .mc files during compilation. It is an aid for localization and display is up to the application as to time and method of output. ETW is fo

If you're thinking of ETW (event tracing for Windows) and not the actual Windows EventLog itself, then you're right. traceWPP used ETW under the hood to record logging as ETW events in a file.

Microsoft had a poorly documented tool called tracewpp that did this. Blindingly fast logging with very little runtime overhead. It was hard to figure out how to use it without documentation so it wasn’t very popular. No idea if they still

Of all the anti-C++ rants that regularly get posted here, I felt this one the most as a career C++ developer. Specifically, - incompatibility with C is just stupid - agreeing with sibling comment, references were a mistake - the complexity

So, a virtual adapter advertises 100Gbps link speed, but is not capable of delivering that and the takeaway is "Windows kills..." ? How do other OSes handle the situation of having two interfaces with identical routes to a given d

It won't be visible to the naked eye. Maya ruins like these are covered by centuries of overgrowth. Lidar scans can spot shapes buried under this overgrowth, but from the air it'll at best look like random hills of dirt. Maybe if

Man, as a windows phone mourner the only disagreement i have with this comment is that they threw anywhere near MS level of resources at Nokia. Satya never wanted the acquisition and nuked WP as soon as he could.

Expedia still offers refunds within 24 hours. At least for every flight I've booked originating from the US in the last few years. I thought it was because of the DoT rule, but apparently they wouldn't be subject to that.

Usually regular dental checkups include x-rays every year. The biggest value proposition of universal healthcare (IMO) is preventive care, stopping minor issues from getting to the point of hospitalization.

You are using definitions that I am not familiar with. Maybe it's because we speak different programming languages :-) x = y is an expression statement in C++, which can be evaluated in an "if" for its side-effects. https

The result of the expression is the condition. Thus, in your example, the bool check would apply to "s", after the expression is evaluated. The fact that foo() may return nullptr at runtime and your "s" is UB is yo

My information would be decades out of date unfortunately. I suppose any current edition of "Internetworking with TCP/IP" would do, but they are horrendously expensive on Amazon so maybe out of print ? I think either of these

Big fan of the book referenced by this course, as well as Stevens' TCP/IP books. Him and Doug Comer were the explainers of TCP/IP to a whole generation of network programmers.

Stack ranking existed at MSFT before Ballmer became CEO, i.e., when billg was CEO. It was a practice that Jack Welch brought into the corporate world and Microsoft was just guilty of following what were thought to be best practices at the t

I'm really out of the loop on this, but in the past for Windows at least you could customize an image and use PXE to install it from the network. Then all the user had to do was login with a domain account. Does that not work any more

When they came out with HoloLens, Minecraft was the obvious killer app for it. But my mind has long ago stopped boggling at the number of ways Microsoft can find to not do the smart thing. Especially in gaming.

I gather that File Explorer in Windows 11 was re-written from scratch and that's why it was missing basic features and UI patterns from previous versions when it launched. Not to mention abysmal file copy performance. They claim to be

I hate to sound like a crochety old man, but this sounds like a huge amount of overengineering for something that could easily be put in an ACID database to begin with. 100,000 requests/day is less than 2 a second. Most self-respecting

Ideally, you want a self-hosted mode (no cloud-only) and a native UI. Even if as stretch goals. We don't like our source, and more importantly assets, hosted outside our control and native UIs are just better. Good luck !
