APM accounting in SC2 is dumb and broken for Zerg: if you're building 100 zerglings, you select all of your hatcheries with one action, select your larvae with one action, and then hold down Z for 100 actions in a split second. It'

Firefox disables GPU acceleration on Linux entirely, largely for the same reasons.

It turns out that if you spend all of your time at work posting on mailing lists about your T7-9 vision instead of actually doing your work, your performance reviews suffer. Who would have thought?

Because the alternative is for every single OEM to reimplement this on their own, probably in a worse way. Everyone (including Apple, who have far more leverage over carriers) is basically forced to comply with the carriers here, so there&#

Yeah, pretty much all of the carriers cheat, and demand the ability to cheat, e.g.: https://android.googlesource.com/platform/frameworks/base/+/...

> Even better, on Alpha, glibc's syscall cannot call system calls with 6 or more arguments That's just generic kernel ABI: syscalls can have at most 6 arguments: https://elixir.bootlin.com/linux/latest/

Claiming that they've "implemented" 42 syscalls seems like an overstatement: almost everything is a stub that does nothing, and the bits that are implemented are not even close to being half-baked. Even relatively easy stuff

I remember reading that Greyhound had a pretty sizable dropoff in ridership after a passenger was decapitated and cannibalized on one of their buses. Googling finds this: https://globalnews.ca/news/4331224/greyhoun

But that's no longer Unix time, it's an arbitrary value that's usually something along the lines of "number of seconds that the CPU has been awake since boot".

I can vouch that the Google numbers are plausible, but only because of stock appreciation. The actual numbers that a new hire would get are somewhat lower.

Recycling glass is essentially pointless. It costs the same amount of energy to recycle glass (possibly even more, due to transport) as it does to just make new glass, and we're never going to run out of sand.

KRACK is essentially irrelevant, the security models of the OS and any sane applications will assume that the network is compromised (e.g. starbucks wifi). Blueborne on the other hand, is very scary.
