It's coming from someone who isn't comfortable with C or Java either. There's no winning over everyone. Of course Rust's syntax will be completely jarring if you're coming from Crystal or Ruby. In my personal experi

Agreed, I'm not sure what they want out of the rpi. If it's only 1-2 (xlr) mics, I would use a Scarlet 2i2 audio interface if possible and connect via its usb out. Although I have no idea how well it works with raspbian / ARM

There are entry level mics that are USB, but professional mics have XLR outs with a hot, cold, and ground out, i.e. balanced output. You then need some sort of an audio interface like a Scarlet 2i2 to convert and connect it to your computer

I have a container running on a VPS that uses Caddy's http.git plugin to check for new commits. Whenever I do a git push it pulls in the changes. See my sibling comment [0] for links. [0]: https://news.ycombinator.com/i

I used Zola [0] + Caddy [1] with the http.git plugin [2] and docker. I generate the assets with Zola, then rsync them to a separate repository and Caddy automatically pulls in the changes whenever I git push. Source here: https://

I appreciate the amount of work and effort you've put in here. I also maintain my own site which is statically generated and deploys to a VPS running docker via git pushes. I haven't written interactive articles yet, but having ab

I went the same route. Arch -> Void -> FreeBSD -> OpenBSD -> Debian Stretch (no desktop, just xorg + i3). I love it. No more random updates breaking things like in Arch. I can install things relatively smoothly and get them runn

Actually on second thought, this happened in Fukuoka, not Osaka. In Osaka I was able to take the metro with Suica. I ended up carrying around cash and change anyway since a lot of places in Tokyo were still cash only.

Suica was awesome in tokyo, but I wasn't able to use it in Osaka unfortunately. Other than that, I love it. I had the card originally but I switched to just using my phone.

wechat is a chinese application. asian people != chinese. I hang out with "asian people" all the time, but I use kakaotalk because I'm actually hanging out with Koreans. Or I use line with my Japanese friends.

The thing with actix's web stuff is that things like these are just not well documented yet. I also had no idea about this macro until I was digging through documentation for something else.

Static types are only one part of reasoning through things properly. Rubber ducking or composing that question to a colleague forces you to think of the entire logic and structure around it, etc. Types won't fix that.
