I just like using Rust. This is a small side project of mine so it's been more fun to experiment with using Rust to make a backend api than to stick with rails. I also recently dealt with maintaining / upgrading a large, not well

The beauty of rails is how simple and quick it is to get a robust (if bare) application up and running. Even if you use sinatra or padrino instead, the wealth of the web community built around ruby still makes it rather easy. If I were a te

This has absolutely nothing to do with the US and everything to do with an asymmetric relationship. The police have immense power, you do not. What do you have to gain from interacting with the police? Now, compare this to what you stand to

Only for tracks and albums I like very much, that I would be very sad if they were go to away. Spotify just makes it so easy– click on "offline download", boom, done.

This... doesn't make much sense. An open-source license (one that is actually recognized as such by OSI[0]), means that anyone can fork the code and contribute to it at the very minimum. The only way to stop this would be to use a non

Correct, which would lead us to ask a pertinent question: Is this likely to happen in the next 10 years? I would be inclined to say no, it's rather unlikely, short of apple somehow suddenly going bankrupt.

As long those languages aren't native, they won't be nearly as popular as swift. Swift doesn't need to be adopted outside of iOS development at all, because when people develop iOS apps the main choice will be Swift. Swift is

You should use a language based on how well it performs for your problem and domain, and the community around it. Not based on one article or because google is maintaining it.

This is unexpected and quite interesting. I think we totally gloss over the fact that we've just been writing Japanese (and Korean) names incorrectly. I've always thought it to be quite odd, and there are exceptions too. Mun Jae-i

It makes sense to me. I evaluated it years ago (when it did have DRM), and simply moved onto different solutions. I never had a need to re-evaluate itunes because I haven't had any issue with the alternatives.

There's a difference in normal studying for a deadline (which just sucks) versus studying all day, every day, to the extent that Korean-Koreans do. I have no idea about American-Koreans. Both countries have big standardized tests (SAT,

As I noted, my reason for flac/alac is for transcoding purposes. I mainly just transcode them to mp3 currently and play them in itunes anyways, but I have the freedom to transcode to any format in the future without a degradation in qu

I just use separate apps. I generally use spotify but occasionally I'll just play my local songs via vlc or itunes.

It looks like itunes has changed its ways in that regard. However m4a files are lossy and thus not desirable for me. If I purchase music I want it in flac/alac format because I can transcode it to say, m4a if I need to in the future, o

I buy CDs occasionally and rip them, but it's 2019, there's no real need to amass a CD collection (unless you want to). For most of my needs, spotify works out. I don't mind paying $10/mo since I use the offline listenin

This title is misleading. Big retailers including Whole Foods and Caribou Coffee now accept Flexa payments, which uses Flexacoin. Flexa itself accepts Bitcoin, Ether, Bitcoin Cash, and Gemini(?). I was confused as to how retailers would be
