This might be a good time to look up the definition of axiom: "a statement accepted as true as the basis for argument or inference".

The problem with whataboutism in this context is not that it presents a false equivalence, although it does, or that your examples are exaggerated, though they are. It's that it presupposes that Reddit rules are an attempt to enforce

Relatedly, I've noticed that video game youtubers almost always refer to themselves plurally (as in, "We're going to take our main army over here" or "We won!"). I assumed this was to cultivate a sense of belon

The more nuanced version of the same comment would've been to point out that it's no co-oindence that rappers commonly choose an alter ego (not just a pseudonym, but a character with different mannerisms and traits) under which to

This is incredibly vague. Is this a proposal for some kind of standard or protocol? It says that "many of the world’s biggest telecommunications companies are Clean Telcos", so whatever it is it can't be that difficult to a

I empathize, but you've been misled about the nature and extent of size of the protests. It so happens that I live two blocks away from where the feds were arresting people two nights ago. If the police were overwhelmed or were overl

Super cool! This is a great idea and very useful for those of us who use CSS widgets as standins for graphical assets. I will say that I also have trouble resizing the elements using Firefox, thought it all looks good in Chrome.

I'm a huge fan of Scott's writing, but the forum discussions at SSC did not seem particularly good (for any value of good - niceness, erudition, signal-to-noise, etc) to me. Certainly they were much worse than HN on average.
