They are put there by websites in reaction to the poorly thought out and executed EU regulations, which is par for the course for the EU. The official EU website has the same popup asking about required or optional (read: tracking) cookies

A child’s slingshot is more dangerous than this. Don’t fall into the “scary weapon!” trope. Thankfully I live in America where most people don’t freak out like this and we can have cool hobby projects.

If we’re into the colonization phase in the future we’ll be intentionally contaminating the planet trying to grow crops, so yes we’d be past that as a point of consideration.

Beating a gasoline car with an electric car on the Nurburgring isn’t remotely in the same realm, as you mentioned decades vs years of experience - it’s significantly harder to build fast gasoline cars. This isn’t a knock of the gasoline car

I believe that there are unfortunately premade websites that do this for you already, I believe those were what generated all the news stories from Europe mentioned elsewhere in this thread. I don’t think the bar is in the same state.

I know this will be an unpopular opinion, but I was a chrome user for well over a decade. I spent the last year or so trying to switch to Firefox (and did) because google implemented something similar to this in chrome. I used it for a year

> Why should we stop comparing Apple to its main competitors because they took a minor step in the right direction but still miss the mark by a wide margin? It's only fair to keep them on the hook for things where they do worse. As

Can we just be happy that Apple is slowly changing, and stop constantly moving on to the next thing to complain about? If you never look behind you you’ll lose sight of how much progress has been made. I’d also disagree that they’re the sam

The most batteries included multiplatform language right now is _by far_ Kotlin and nothing else is remotely close. The ecosystem is amazing, the language itself is awesome and follows sane rules, you can chose between native code, JVM, WAS

The problem is that as much as I want Firefox to be a better browser than chrome - Blink is still a far better rendering engine than anything else. Every other browser either has inferior performance (including Firefox) or is just a fork of

Even as a Toyota fanboy (which this seems to be a 3rd party not Toyota directly) I agree with you that companies need to be held accountable because what we’re doing now (nothing) doesn’t seem to be working, however I’d caution you about ju

Intels downfall is something that I would’ve never predicted a decade ago, and would’ve actively bet against ever happening. I think it should be a case study in business classes in the future for how you don’t waste such a dominate market

I never understand Microsoft’s strategy with being absolutely full bore focused on locking in 100% of everyone to this crap, consistently. It has to be cheaper to let the .03% of people who want to do their own thing just do their own thing

The behavior is awful, but I wouldn’t call chrome shit. I keep trying to switch away and keep ending back up on it because everything else has inferior performance, or is just a clone of chrome and its rendering engine.

There has to be a lot of egos tied up in this thing for them to still be stuck there. NASA delayed SpaceX’s next mission to give them more time to try to fix Starliner - and then use SpaceX as a backup to bring the astronauts home. After th

I don’t think there’s need for anger, I’m not “playing games”. All I’m doing is pointing out that there has to be a source of revenue to run any given service - and if you remove all the sources of revenue then the service ceases to exist.
