I use this syntax all the time and greatly prefer it to the special 'from' keyword. I think it scares my co-workers a little less. There are a few cases where the from syntax is necessary, but it's not common.

Wouldn't it be better to build a parse tree and then cluster based on the difference between the trees? I think this is called "tree distance", or sometimes "tree edit distance." There seems to be a reasonable amount of research on the su

Obligatory anecdotal confirmation: I recently went to a neighboorhood meetup (オフ会) near my home in Kobe. At some point I got out my iPhone to look at the time. Someone said "oh, you have an iPhone?" At which point fully HALF of the other

Seems like the hard part would be avoiding GC pauses. This is true in many other environments as well, of course. But in this case, it could be really hard to implement right; browsers have different JS implementations that perform diffe

Perhaps a small progress bar embedded in the element you activated? For the first example in the video, double clicking 'lapis' would show a small progress bar embedded in the bottom of that element itself. That would indicate that it has

I was just thinking that maybe it's a Harrier since you can easily tilt the thrust the wrong way and end up screwed. But you can always get back to where you were, so perhaps it's a Harrier with a time machine.

I usually assume the same thing and it usually works. But it hurt me once, pretty badly. I spent about a month (!) trying to wrangle good color performance out of a particular scanner for an imaging system. The unit was pre-chosen, I was

Does the iPad SDK actually afford new input methods? That would be a very welcome change. I would very much like to make an iambic morse-code input method. Good for input without looking.

I highly recommend gerrit for this purpose. It's easy to deploy, lets people manage their own ssh keys, and has a nice helping of code review on the side.

This is so close to being really cool. Usually what's needed, though, is to compare two or three time zones text to each other. In this system, they're far away so that's hard to do.

But for those cases where you are just pulling a row or two, this is a nice technique. It hints at something more interesting, I think. Fundamentally it wants to be an assertion against the schema. It would be better to be able to ask the

Though I agree with you on this particular issue, I don't think the broader one is quite as clear-cut. In particular, littered taskbars and desktops are seldom the consequence of user intent. It's far more likely that the user lacks eithe

Another thing I wonder is, if their "search" system, what kind of indexing is required? How long does it take, and can you re-index on the fly? Their demos have a conspicuous lack of any kind of movement at all, much less dynamic geometry
