The great thing about open source is that you can make changes when you see some thing that is wrong :) https://github.com/coreos/etcd/blob/master/Documentation/v2/... and https://gi

If someone was actually interested in security, they would not allow tenant (or user / etc) defined components access the base infrastructure's etcd, even if it had ACLs. Basic separation of concerns would call for a separate inst

Cool. Do you ask projects to support all the implementations or just choose one?

So in the CNCF, are competing implementations allowed / encouraged? For me that would have repercussions for what other tech a CNCF project supports (e.g. is all stats monitoring based on Prometheus, or can 2 projects in the CNCF suppo

So, also being a PTL in OpenStack I would say that the foundation design is very similar to the OpenStack one. 1 - the openstack board has 0 technical input to projects - the way to get things done in OpenStack is still to throw developers

Why not allow people to specify URLs ? e.g. Swift (what RackSpace runs) can be run anywhere, Ceph can imitate s3 or swift, and Eucalyptus can allow people to run API compatible versions of AWS. Providers can also add new regions at the drop

Yes - mainly for communicating with other teams. Its not the full spec, but a sub section, so that others (mainly the security architecture review) can understand the basic parts of the system. I tried to keep it up to date for the public d

And the fact that it costs them a fair amount of money to host large instances of slack. Can't seem to find the link, but you can see they will give discounts for non profits, up to 250 users. - https://get.slack.help/h

Right now, I am in 3 slacks, and have maybe 50 channels open. Slack is currently chewing 2+ GB of RAM. Its not that polished. I also have irssi open. it has 7 IRC networks, and ~ 120 channels - its taking 144MB of RAM.

Slack has said they do not want open source projects to use it. It is the single most annoying thing about some projects - I get it, IRC doesn't show your emojis, but it just works.

Depends on what you mean by "attractive"... Are any cloud providers UIs good? OpenStack provides decent APIs, and a usable UI. and I much prefer the CLIs OpenStack has to AWSs.

The CIA site was completely separate from AWS. Its even separate from GovCloud. They are worlds apart from what your friend can get.

Different discussion. Thats about Windows Server 2016 supporting docker containers, this is about the Docker for Windows Beta. Docker on WS 2016 is Windows containers only, this is for linux containers on a windows system.

From the linked web page - "Docker for Windows requires Microsoft Hyper-V to run." Its the same as the Docker for macOS, where is is booting a VM in the background, you just can't see it.

Well, from a legal perspective you are bound to their hardware. A Hackintosh is a breach of the EULA, and no company should allow one to be used for their development, as it can create a potentially massive liability for them.
