Yeah, I used to use the web interface, but found it lacking, especially with meeting invites. Skype for Business has no web interface :( . I tried windows VMs, dialing in, mobile apps, 3rd party apps - but nothing was reliable / usable

I use a Mac, but just as a terminal to a Linux workstation. Unfortunately, I work in a place where we need access to Outlook (and its calendar), and Skype for Business / Lync. There is not really a good story for these things on Linux

You would be surprised what can happen with "agnostic runtimes" Running the same libraries, on the same base OS is invaluable to me - but that can depend on what you are developing. > Also, unless IT agrees to put beefy machine

I will give an example where the GPL hurts some projects: I work on a OpenStack project that does DNS. We have plugable drivers for the different software out there - PowerDNS, Bind9, nsd, etc. One of the people deploying our software wante

HPE Helion == Suite of cloud products HPE Helion Stackato == Cloud Foundry There has been some branding changes, but things are settling down. Afaik Stackato is not too much of a fork anymore - but we have always had a single CF distros.

DevOps is a culture not a job. Most good candidates know this, and will actively avoid "DevOps" roles. Now someone claiming 10 - 16 years experience as a DevOp, is : A: Lying. The term is 6-7 years old B: If they have even been us

From what I can see, the underlying openpgp js lib does not support GPG Cards (smartcards / newer Yubikeys + others). Interesting app, and it looks cool, but it rules out usage for me. Why the JS + Electron stack?

Yeah, it can be a pain to get images. That said, my workflow for testing anything these days is inside a vagrant lxc box. it is well worth the lack of images for the improved workflow.

OpenStack has had this as a common design pattern across a lot of the services for a while. It works quite well for us now - there was a period 2-3 years ago where rabbitmq was the bane of my existence, and the cause of many a page but newe

Mesos is a form of virtualisation - just a different type. I am not surprised HortenWorks customers are on containers / bare metal - the over head for their workloads that would be caused by a traditional hypervisor would be costly. Fo

I do know a few companies are using tools like OpenStack Ironic to do "Metal as a Service" - basically using a full machine like a VM. That said it is usually deployed beside a cloud like thing, and only used for select workloads.

Iteration is how software moves forward. If slack didn't "re-invent" IRC, it wouldn't exist. Also, not everyone is comfortable having data exist on a 3rd party system, that they have no audit access to. This is the funda
