Some SAST products cost a truckload of money. There's a FOSS SAST product for Python already, though, called Pysa: https://pyre-check.org/docs/pysa-basics/

We generally have that cultural norm too — I'm as likely to DM someone as I am to sidle up to them in the office. I never feel like using Slack is stopping me from writing code, but when I'm waiting for a build or what-have-you I

I'm biased (since I work at Slack) but, as a casual user, Workplace seems like an un-loved afterthought. I don't think Meta is well-configured to make consumer-facing products that "surprise and delight", and Workplace&#

As the article mentions, SF needs to do some large-scale rezoning to avoid a gutted downtown. The city's approach to drug use probably doesn't help, but the pandemic-motivated downturn in foot traffic is the most obvious culprit.

Worth pointing out that no European country has a cash bail system, yet many of them manage to have cities with much lower crime rates than SF. Cash bail isn't "tough on crime" policy — it's a "keep penniless people

I think it probably should be more expensive to live off the beaten path. The per-capita CO2 consumption of people who rely on cars for everything is far higher than for people who can walk places or take public transport, and those environ

Twitter is very read-heavy. Think about the average timeline — Tweets don't change (they recently introduced "editing", but it's not an in-place edit). That means many things can be heavily cached, and most people on T
