Good? Meh. Necessary? Probably. No one likes paying taxes and, given the chance, people will either willfully or accidentally take advantage of the system. There needs to be a system in place to keep people and companies honest so that the

Saw Hanselman post this and took a look. I think it perfectly fits the bill for a number of our systems and hope to stop using our old hand-crafted solution instead.

I've been running Sierra for the last month or so and think it's on par with prior macOS releases. There's been no standout feature that's wowed me, but there haven't been outstanding bugs driving me crazy either. S

Not the OP but I did have both sides wireless for a while and it couldn't keep the framerate up (playing Portal). I have an i7 920 @3.6Ghz, 680GTX, 12GB RAM on the main machine. I was streaming to my late-2013 MBP 15". I have an A

This is why you'll notice most existing vertical farms don't grow things like corn or soybeans. They grow microgreens. Organic-foodie pricing aside, I think it's largely because that's the only crop that really takes to

Frustrating that Apple is basically down to 2 SKUs. When I picked up my MBP in late 2013, I could change the memory, ssd, and gpu. Now, if you want the updated GPU, you _must_ get the 512GB SSD (something I don't need). There's re

Wonderful little demo, you can tell he's really explored the concept of fractal generation in great depth over the course of his development...it's incredible. It's interesting how similar the stimulation I get from his voice

The author notes on his r/gamedev post that actually he got the name wrong. Ketchapp isn't the original 2048 guys but rather a group that knocked off the concept (a foreboding allusion to what happens to the author). That said, a

Interesting to see Buttercoin come full circle. I recall seeing them start as an open-source project on Reddit with a handful of folks. http://www.reddit.com/r/buttercoin

The author makes a point about cooling the station through the use of radiators. How do radiators work in the vacuum of space?

This is a really appropriate comment. I'm about 8 years into professional development and feel like your first two phases are spot on. I also sympathize with the author because it's just so fun to get all organized for a new proje

My guess is most companies will skip Win8 like they skipped Vista. Windows 10 looks to be what enterprise will rally around. But for fat applications, what's your alternative? Java is, at best, parity with something like WinRT but can&

That's a pretty fair criticism. But once you've gotten it, it's very powerful (incredible data binding!). And I think we need to be sure to separate WPF from "XAML". XAML, for certain, is here to stay for quite a wh

Perhaps. I am not familiar with the project. But if you've already got a captive audience able to run anything .NET 4.0 and above (incl. async/await via Bcl.Async libraries) with the rich experience of WPF, why bother shoehorning

I am writing a WPF app now, I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. The issue I see with your example is that WPF as a platform went against just about everything your user needed. * Alienate users with a platform that&

As a developer for my company's internal LoB tools, I really enjoy WPF more than Winforms. I feel very empowered and, as a Microsoft shop, it seems to be really great for meeting a specific aesthetic and function for my users. Could I

I am running Win8.1 + VS2013 on a late-2013 rMBP 15". It works great with Parallels (9, though 10 is out now). One hiccup I did have was with Resharper. I had to update to v8.1 because v7 had serious scaling issues (the indicator at th

I wish there was some way to participate in this using my NAS. I don't want to keep a PC online all the time just to service other folks' storage requests. Sounds like a neat idea for a homebrew Synology package.
