A lot of climate studies, especially about impacts, have moved to regional scales. The models have improved to where that is possible, and as GP comment illustrates, these specific factors do matter. E.g., is there a problem with drought, o

Climate depends on a lot more than latitude. Madrid is at about the same latitude as New York. But also, the climate impacts on a given society will depend on its vulnerability and coping capacity in other ways. E.g., prevalence of air cond

Have you seen the Jointmaker from Bridge City? It’s a very high quality sliding table that holds the workpiece, and is moved by hand over a fixed saw blade. It’s used by musical instrument makers and others who do fine work with small parts

Solar irradiance variations amount to a bit less than 0.1% over the solar cycle. It used to be thought solar-cycle variations (the 11-year period) could be a significant contributor to climate change. This turned out not to be the case...th

As people are pointing out, the rate of orbital decay does matter (even if it's not a "plummet"!) -- because everyone concerned knows that solar activity should be increasing to some extent in 2022 as a new solar cycle take

If you just use the system app, Screenshot.app, then all of these shortcuts are first-class menu items within that app. You can configure the mapping of cmd-shift-4 (or whatever it is) to the screenshot function, within System Preferences.

Because the location of the peak falls at a different dimension depending on the underlying units (i.e., the radius), I don’t think the numerical location of the peak is fundamental. So maybe it’s best that you don’t have intuition for it?
