Why was Ford's name redacted from the comments? Was it a national security issue or part of a terrorist investigation? This is ridiculous. These things should absolutely be part of the public record.

I'm not quite sure what this is exactly, but it sounds like they are providing a security "service", so all the "real identifiers" will be stored on their servers? Why should an entire country trust them? I'm n

No, that's not why. Otherwise they wouldn't have to lie to judges, too. But they did, and still do. And it's because they know the judges would require them to follow proper due process if they are caught using Stingrays.

Well, that's the ISPs' problem now. They're the ones that killed the "unified" federal net neutrality policy, no? Reap what you sow.

High ISP competition would be preferable. But that's not going to be possible anytime soon until all state monopolies are removed (by law). Until then, net neutrality is needed to keep the internet fair in a market full of local mono

Facebook is THE tracking platform and Facebook mines every word on it, and they STILL haven't fixed the fake news problem there. Giving up encryption on WhatsApp in an attempt to "fix fake news" is going to be just as useless
