I was impressed by how well Quake III ran on Linux way back in the day. Gaming on Linux has a long pedigree.

Just an observation on ML-- If the key to making ML useful has been huge sets of training examples, then that shows that current ML algorithms are much worse than humans at generalizing from a small number of examples. That suggests that cu

It wasn't that confusing, but I guess it's not clear what the takeaway should be from the article. Since you started off by talking about apache's memory usage, it would have made sense to include a graph showing Caddy's

I think my main reason for posting was to suggest showing the equivalent bash so it was easier to see what the tool did. I just threw in the "looks potentially great" as a little sweetener. ;)

That's right. DOD has too much money. Apparently DOD tries to give money back sometimes and Congress won't take it.

I'm not sure about philosophy, but for physics, the most elegant expression of new discoveries is mathematical equations and numeric measurements. The words used by the original discoverer are not that important, because they just intr

It costs more to employ C/C++ developers than Javascript/HTML/CSS developers, so people are not going to recreate everything with bespoke C/C++.

This looks like potentially a great tool. It might be helpful if the author showed the code examples alongside the equivalent code in bash, so it's easy to see both what the example code is doing and how much effort is saved by doing i

A lot of people seem to use stdio even in C++. Having comprehensible error messages is related to being a simple language, IMO. C++ compile-time errors are notorious for being unreadable. I'm not familiar with the output of what(), but

The chief benefits to pure C IMO are that it's more portable, compiles faster, and it's a simple and stable language. Writing C takes more effort in some cases, so it's a trade-off.

There are possible improvements that wouldn't affect the scripting language. *nix separates out the terminal (e.g. xterm) from the shell (e.g. bash).
