Wise words of Bruce Sterling in "Shaping Things" (MIT Press): "We need to understand technology with a depth of maturity that mankind has never shown before. We need to stop fussing over mere decade-long "Ages" and realize that there are on

I had the misfortune of spending some time in a program like this and switched to fine art promptly. I think it's a copout to say that math is just "too hard". The problem is that engineering and math programs are poorly constructed and tau

My experience was that of going from having to spend a bit of time memorizing useless material to having to spend a great deal of time memorizing useless material. For me the only "culture shock" was the realization that I no longer had tim

CNMAT's o.dot library for Max has a similar notion. As messages pass through the systems and affect new results, the resulting message preserves its entire history.

I totally don't understand this perspective. I use automated checkout at every opportunity – despite the fact that it sucks – because the sooner people never have to suffer the indignity of being a cashier again, the better! Repetitive, deh

Hey Erik ;) Strictly Max/MSP/Jitter is a much more encompassing environment than SuperCollider and ChucK, which focus on audio. The advantage of Max is that it combines a great control language with audio programming, a great video matrix l

Yes. I was just talking to my prof./boss today who worked at Stanford, PARC and later Interval about moving some things to Dropbox, arguing that it's a better long-term solution since it's just the file-system and the

Nicely done. I'm looking forward to seeing more web-stores that just link to other websites for the checkout process. Does this have a name? Product curating? Question: do you make money from affiliations and if not, do you plan to?

I'm more interested in the Leonardo with the 32u4 chip myself. Much smaller than the Arduino, simpler circuit, built-in USB for higher data transfer bandwidth and comes with lots of A/D's. The 32u4 has been _the_ chip for low-cost projects
