No, it is just pass through, they just did a crappy job of handling concurrency.

It's just pass through. The limit in this instance is probably packets per second of the legacy AWS network. Why is this difficult?

16k requests per second isn't fast.

I talked to the authors, they ran into the same issue. They just kill the network instead.

DataStax Enterprise integrates Solr with Cassandra. The Solr docs are stored in Cassandra. Solr and Cassandra occupy the same JVM. As a result all docs inserted into C* are indexed using Solr, and Solr get's the high availability/

Something not mentioned in the the list of criticisms linked by gordonguthrie is the lack of a coherent release and distribution framework. There are several half baked implementations none of which have the full support of the community. S

Yes, for two reasons. Almost all bad hires come from some exception to the hiring rules. If everyone goes through the same process it limits that risk. I wouldn't want to work at a company that didn't seriously and exhaustively vet candidat

Is the Erlang ecosystem and supporting libraries strong enough to support committing/betting resources on using it for production? We're using Clojure now for our back-end processes because it's a language I can live with, and I get the saf

Where and how did you acquire clients. What's your skill set, and your rate (range)?

Yeah I can do that, I'll add that to the queue. The high level is Rails on the very front for legacy reasons, and it's easier to find libraries that do, authentication, authorization, billing etc... that speaks to solr or a restful service

Real Clojure. You have access to more of the language, better tools, more libraries, better performance. Anytime you target JS it's like running with lead weights around your ankles. I think the argument for Node.js was that it is typically

In our instance we were publishing tools for Node.js, so that's why we did it. Id'e rather write code in Clojure than JS or coffee script.

Hey, just published my after action report on publishing my first Node.js module written in ClojureScript. I was trying to fill some gaps in the existing documentation and pool together the research I did for the project. Hopefully some peo

I find something about that persons interest that I always wanted to know, and ask about that. It can be tangentially related.

I can't offer specific advice, I can only tell you that drinking didn't help for me. It resulted in me being less sharp, and generally made things more difficult. I found it easiest if everyone else was drinking and I remained sober. If you

To be honest, you need to just suck it up and try it, consequences be damned. You're going to suck for a while, embrace it. I think that's a difficulty for smart people, we're used to being good at things easily and when we aren't we avoid

I haven't read it. I think as a geek, or maybe just as a male I have a hard time buying what one would typically think of as a self help book. I don't know why it just is some sort of block or form of denial. Even after being upfront about
