This exercise has had some clinical support for treating Tennis Elbow. I've also found it helpful for general wrist/hand strengthening: http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/08/25/phys-ed-an-easy-fix...

Heh. My company provides cars.com with most of its data, so I have direct access to their db. ;) However, because our business model is predicated on aggregating and then reselling automotive data, it's unlikely you could get access for f

Nozick seems to have had a lot of influence amongst libertarians, though it's unclear to me how much influence libertarians actually wield.

I used to get terribly sleepy in the afternoons; sometimes I'd go out to my car and take a 15 minute nap, even in the brutal Texas summer. Then I started taking vitamin D and went on a paleo diet, and now I almost never get tired in the aft

Personally, I hate Aeron chairs with a passion. Obviously, the overall point here is to keep developers happy, so I'd presume FogCreek allows developers to opt for different/better chairs. I just don't understand why these are considered th

My girlfriend and I went AppleTV + Netflix about a year ago, and we haven't missed cable at all (I don't watch sports). The Netflix catalog is sub-optimal and lacking some important content (HBO shows like The Wire, for example) but it's al

I really like Sublime Text 2. My only complaint thus far is that in order to change colors in themes -- in my case, I only change the comment color in Monokai Bright from grey to green -- you have to find and manually edit the config files.

Having social danced and taught dance classes in various styles for over 10 years now, I think the reason you tend to see so many dancing computer geeks has nothing to do with "mental acuity," and everything to do with: 1. We tend to be int

Lone Star Ruby Conf. Hopefully PyConf 2012. The only conference I've previously attended is No Fluff Just Stuff (Java focus) and it'll be interesting to see how these compare.

One answer, and I don't know if this is the right answer, is that unlike in previous revolutions, a new class of jobs has not been created to (fully) replace the jobs that are being displaced. In the industrial revolution, farmers could mov

Also a ruby newb, so I'm not sure, but I think it's an error in the book. I got that error on all versions of ruby I tried. Either var.to_s, or "blah #{var} blah" works for me. This seems to explain it: http://blade.nagaokaut.ac.jp/cgi-bin

I wouldn't recommend HP. I got one and had hardware problems within the first week (wouldn't boot). They fixed it via mail without much fuss, but it was annoying. The mouse keys were also highly un-ergonomic.

I guess I'm weirdly cynical, but I never though airbnb had a viable model. Perhaps for rental properties, but I would never rent my own home. I see a certain analogy between this and hitchhiking. Hitchhiking used to be safe in America, but
