Coming from the usual languages: pascal, modula-2, objective c, c, lisp, miranda, ruby, python. Another thing I don’t like about Swift are the named parameters which was an objective C thing. I find it makes reading code difficult because y

Still trying to learn swift. My impression is that it’s an ugly language designed by committee (largeness and some extraneous features like guard) and part of the reason why the compiler is slow and why xcode has problems with slow syntax c

I'm still learning Swift (forever) and looking at the source code I wonder if Swift is getting too complicated to read now. I'm having a hard time reading simple snippets of Swift but the Lisa source code seems so comforting to re

I think you don’t like Ruby and would want investment in the your favourite language. Because why would you care what a corporation does with their money?

I feel left behind and a failure. Where did my 30’s and 40’s go? God knows I tried.

At 51, I am trying to come to grips with wasting my life in my 20s, 30s and 40s. I don't remember doing anything memorable during that time. I spent too much time doing bullshit programming or doing the same old comfortable things with

I loved the windows 95 ui! Wished there was a way to go back to it (not through windowblinds). Pair it with NT and you have a winning combination.

Any website to follow who's doing extensive Linux programming with Swift and writing about it?

Yeah, this article had me pissed off at Steve Jobs. You know what else pissed me off? Putting usb ports on the back of the iMac where they are hard to reach. Steve did some good things and some bad things.

Out of many sources, it was only the Stanford iphone course that demystified the terseness of the Swiftui dsl. The lecturer pointed out all the optional parentheses and optional arguments that could be omitted to make the declarations clean
