Yes that is precisely what I meant. Free speech is not the same as freedom to falsely accuse. Libel is absolutely illegal and has been since before the US was a country. Allowing things like this to happen means men and women formally soc

Alternatively you could identify the minority of people who tend to start riots and exclude them from society since they're almost always outsiders who resent being outsiders.

We don't need military supremacy in Asia, Asia isn't part of the US and the Asians should have supremacy there. Anything else is insane.

I think the correct thing to do is to punish accusers of provably false allegations as harshly as the accused would be. You might say "this will have a chilling effect on legitimate accusations" and you might be right, but the sit

If it's that bad you'll probably have to go somewhere anonymous like 4chan. Although quite frankly HN is very tolerant. Unless you're worried about employment or something like that you can get away with posting pretty much

I think HN would be fine if flagging weren't abused and/or it didn't automatically hide posts.

Yeah everyone involved in that should have been shot. That's part of what led to the situation we have today.

Wow they haven't even finished the porn blocking stuff and they're already starting with the web-wide corporate censorship.

See if this were happening on Linux I'd just rip out rtcwake and anything else that touches sleep other than s2ram. Ripping things you don't like out of the OS when it misbehaves is very underrated.

You'll find many people lack the willpower and confidence to even get on the floor though. If it weren't for that they'd already know a programming language and be selling something.

More and more you can get the most value out of just attending to your own problems rather than specializing and outsourcing.

People are focusing on the artifacts because they can't point to the theory in the physical world, but it's the theory and its correspondence to the artifacts that they actually want.

I really don't like how they always try to do everything on the heap. Realizing how memory worked in Rust was a pretty major letdown given how it's sold.

I think if you learned to program 20 years ago or more you're likely to be faster at C than Python unless you jumped on Python in the Python2 days or earlier. For me it's pretty hard to get in the flow with Python because I keep h

I use Artix on everything these days. It used to Alpine (and before that I was just making my own distros because I didn't like the decisions eg Debian was making.)

Yeah TV is particularly nasty. I can't believe how much I was shielded from as a kid. They didn't have the theory totally right and a lot of it was based on their feelings but that seems to work plenty well enough.

There are plenty of countries that don't like capitalism. If you don't like it you can move to one of those. You can even go somewhere like the UK if you don't want to give up the US's anglo/protestant culture.

There are a lot of people who are not "goo goo ga ga" level users and really need a device. I've switched to UMPCs because the constant lies and intentional breakage from smartphone vendors drove me up the wall.

I ran Ubuntu Touch briefly on a Nexus 5 as well. IIRC the two issues I had were: 1) calls and MMS not working well. 2) Instead of a normal GNU/Linux OS Ubuntu Touch tried really hard to have an Android style immutable OS. Kind of the w
