If you're good at interviewing I really don't think AI tools should make a difference tbh.

It doesn't matter whether it's shareholders or creditors in charge IMO. Neither party have your interests in mind. If you don't have the firmware source and an unlocked bootloader you're only renting the device.

Nope. My last laptop has lower specs than modern phones.

OOM is only triggered when you actually run out of virtual memory. With modern phones that shouldn't normally happen unless you're doing something silly like compiling a web browser.

This was the issue I had doing anything interesting on Android in the past. It just randomly kills things so you can't do much more serious stuff than web browsing/social media on it. I suppose normal GNU/Linux might have thi

I think they could cut close to 80% but they could have done it without AI as well. The question is of course which 80%.

You should probably spend an evening learning to use eg Aider and llama.cpp. Maybe watch a few videos explaining LLMs and play with a very small one so you can grow a better intuition for how they fail. There's no reason to think too

Good fences make good neighbors. Maybe they should try to have our state more distanced from theirs. People might be more friendly if they feel they have some say in the situation.

I love how the assumption is that everyone is abusive. This is exactly why no one will talk to each other anymore (other than actual abusers/psychos who don't care.) Whatever personal policy resulted in expressing this idea is n

I think info probably would have been more popular if the local reader used HTML rather than info directly. Just the reader UI seems to turn people off to it. Also man has "apropos" for search. It works pretty well IME.

That has always effectively been how government programs work, even if they launder it through poor people and immigrants first.

Well, the rest of us disagree. You need consensus for public institutions and no one on the left or the right has been willing to build that.

The internet is really a lot like the ocean, things left unmaintained on it are swallowed by waves and sea life. We need something like the salvage law.

Telemetry toggles add noise to the data at the very least. IMO it's part of the reason you're actually better off with no client-side telemetry at all. Obviously they see it the opposite way.

Don't forget that the remote editing feature in VSCode has you install non-free binaries on the remote machines. It's not like netdir where it just wraps openssh. I'm always surprised when corporate IT departments allow that

I personally went through a phase where I compromised by doing one space per indentation level. Realistically tabs are best when you're alone and spaces are better when you're collaborating IMO.

It's self correcting. Corporations aren't needed for the software industry, they were just the best way to structure things for a while. If collaborating that way continues to become intractable forward looking, creative people (t

Mandate open source firmware. This should have been done long ago but now it's creating problems even for the government. There is no legitimate reason for non-free firmware.
