I tried to for a number of years after they added it and my download always expired before I was able to complete it since it didn't support restarting. Eventually I got locked out of my account so I just lost all the data. These days

Can it? Files on Windows 95 and files on most Unix-like OSes are very different things.

I think most people assume the individual satellites aren't synchronized well enough to produce a mutually coherent signal so the power from each of them will just be normally superimposed. IE they're thinking of the individual ph

It's not just the hype, it's the "you're holding it wrong" gaslighting. I have zero tolerance for that sort of thing these days. At this point I'll use kernel virtual terminals before I use Wayland.

The Win95 API is pretty incomplete. That was actually a terrible OS. The oldest I'd go playing this game with anything serious is probably XP.

I think we only know about F-Droid because it's the only high quality one. Low quality software tends to be popular among the general public because they're very bad at evaluating software quality.

Good to know, I guess I'll write an .ssh/id_rsa harvesting worm and chuck it in a pip package tonight with a license that includes a clause requiring surrender of any machine its installed on.

It looks to me like there are quite a few more basic features fundamentally incompatible with Wayland's architecture than X's. Maybe X has issues but Wayland is still a regression.

All societies have elites, you can't eliminate that. What you want are societies where the elite's interests and the people's interests are aligned. EDIT: meh. At least aristocracies typically had a connection with the people

The last company I worked at gave us all macbooks. I noticed every few days it put an article titled something like "maybe its your parents holding you back" in the sidebar. This seems to be the default configuration on OSX. I

Nah I don't think the directories need to be reviewed (except for listings for things that don't actually exist.) Just show the listings in lexicographic order like how phone books worked. We already have the law as the meta norm.

I frankly have very little sympathy for Tesla here. If you're going to "sell" people a computer and not give them root it's impossible for everyone else to tell if you're screwing around with it like that. You want

I wish there was an old fashioned n-gram + page rank search engine for those of us who don't mind the issues the older Google had. I've thought about making my own a few times.

I don't know if that's quite right. A nice business directory would probably be better but most people don't want to settle for that.

Sales are the most important thing in business. Everything else only matters insofar as it drives sales.

Sure but IIRC the statistics were relative to previous polls and the conversation was about how people talk about porn on the web not how they actually use it so I think in this case it actually works well.

It can be limiting for other things though. Encrypted DNS was already marginal for some TLD operators, adding the overhead of PQC may actually make it completely impractical.

It's funny, many people complain that the web got way worse after smartphones became common. It's the second eternal September.
