It's not human. Welfare for humans is morally debatable but when you start getting into shrimp welfare I think it's appropriate to say you're sufficiently bad at philosophy you should probably just stop talking for a while.

I agree entire lifetimes would not be very quickly. I'm arguing once you have a plurality population (where the populous are all considered peers) these things tend to blow up within a generation.

git submodules have a bad ux but it's certainly not worse than Android's custom tooling. I understand why they did it but in retrospect that seems like an obvious mistake to me.

I've done it for "nice to have" features in their own modules that I don't really care about and aren't consumed by anything else (recently an SVG plot generator for a program I wrote.) The LLM one-shotted it and I

Heh, good. "Social media" has always been worse than just running a personal website. Especially now that most social media platforms are walling themselves off from the rest of the web.

I think for localized culture to develop it needs to be exclusive in addition to the need for it to be cheap for people to focus on cultural rather than economic output. Outsiders hate being excluded though so the barriers all get knocked d

White/Christian and jewish are absolutely not the same tribe. I think what we're running into is an issue many empires have run into in the past: once you scale things internationally people just don't get along. For some rea

What!? First how does fiber fix them running extra conductors? Secondly fiber is crazy fragile. It only makes sense in places like data centers or long links where the extra bandwidth actually makes a difference. Using it pretty much anywhe

I don't know what I would do with higher resolution personally. This is already enough that xterm's "tiny" font is extremely hard to read. Personally I'd prefer lower power draw to more resolution.

It's not that hard to learn, you can do it in a few evenings. Grab something like Nielsen and mess around on qirk. Now whether it's worth learning? Eh, maybe it's good to exercise some math skills that have been atrophying.

Apps are user agents. If the user wants something done there needs to be a mechanism to empower the app to do it, otherwise that's a design defect. Again, if that's what he wants and Android can't do it without root then Andr
