If you're the kind of person who thinks this way chances are your website is unpleasant enough that I'd do without your content entirely if the AI summary wasn't available.

Don't publish things if you don't want them published. Get real yourself.

Yes although mostly over VOIP. Voice calls aren't actually very complex though of you prefer using those directly.

Substack seems to have done an incredible job allowing people to monetize their blogs. Maybe Substack themselves aren't profitable but the authors certainly seem to be doing well. As someone who's subscribed to a lot of substack

Yeah it might be better to think of booleans as "the smallest possible integer type" and use enums (or whatever your language has) to represent more meaningful data. Although it always depends on what exactly you're really do

We're not "too important." All a union would do is create extra problems for us. There are two possibilities: a) This is a large scale administrative coordination problem b) We don't need as many software engineers. Unde

Why would we? they're all so bland, moderated and corporate you might as well just hang out online. Everyone's so very "professional" and "polite" it's a complete waste of time.

Desktop Linux works very nicely on smartphones actually provided all the drivers are there. I lived with a PinePhone running FVWM on Xorg for a couple years and if the hardware didn't crumble away I'd still be using it today. No n

Right the only way to actually use immigration that way is essentially slaves and that has other economic (not to mention horrible moral) problems.

Immigration at that scale is completely indistinguishable from invasion. At small scales you can have them give up their culture and assimilate but at replacement scales you just turn your country into a third world country. That's co

IMO most people should have a VPS even if you don't need it for tunneling. Living without having a place to just leave services/files is very hard and often "free" services will hold your data hostage to manipulate your

Maintainers and contributors have overlapping but subtly different responsibilities AFAIK. Maintainers are the ones responsible in the end for the state of the repo while contributors suggest changes.

Actually that does sound like an improvement, I hadn't considered the need for trusted publishers interacting directly with the blockchain making smart contracts more meaningful.

How is this an improvement over just publishing the data on the web so we can wget it? Which is how it works now.

I figured out in my teens that I program and do math way better if I have daily exercise walks. I'm surprised people don't notice that.

Yes. The whole idea is very flawed. It would be good if we got rid of it entirely but most people can't mentally/emotionally/financially handle that so we end up with a lot of bad compromises.

We did that by making walking practically useless instead as many people here point out ~every week.

Perhaps a better way to phrase that would be "beyond what they're doing now." Most popular hosted LLMs already refuse to complete explanations for suicide.

I love the idea of an internet connected thermostat running an open source micropython environment. No one outside of HongKong ever seems to want to sell devices like that though. I don't know if it's a culture thing or what.

The problem is there's no way to build anything like a safety rail here. If you had it your way teens, likely everyone else too wouldn't be allowed to use computers at all without some kind of certification.

You know last time I was laid off, and this time too actually, I haven't figured out where these social safety nets are. I could have really used it last time too, that was a significant struggle. I don't think it's actually

They're not nearly as bad as income tax which would have to be raised if we didn't do tariffs. At least tariffs tax consumption rather than production. Taxing production/income is horribly evil and in better times (such as wh

Sure, put the emergency hotline on the internet. It already is very special and doesn't use the phone network the way other voice calls do.

Just kill the phone. It's a terrible anachronism. If you insist on voice you can attach an ogg/mp3 file to your email.
