Could you imagine if the US were like that? Half the country would be in jail on alternating 4 year cycles.

Absolutely not. If they get subpoenaed (as is the case here) they have no choice but to share it.

Lol yes we've been warning people about that for years.

I never talked about it because it seemed obvious to me until today. I kind of see why people are confused now that I think about it a bit and read other people's replies.

The problem with dedicated apps is that you often have to fight with the OS vendor for basic functionality in your app just to distribute it and these days you don't actually gain much with a dedicated app since modern sandboxing is

That's such a weird thing to do. MPLab used to be completely free to encourage people to use their chips.

Was anyone really thinking of those as private?

App stores are a business thing not a technical thing. You must be a business partner with the OS vendor to publish in one. They're a horrible idea and quite frankly should be illegal.

Just a reminder for those who aren't aware: Apple typically makes you upload your government ID to publish apps. I used to be part of their developer program (although I never finished any of the apps I wrote) and was forced to upload

We just called them "CDs" and sometimes they didn't even have a box. Those were called "shrink-wrapped CDs" (even though the boxes were usually shrink-wrapped too.)

Code was always cheap, anyone could write it and it's really not hard to learn. I don't think LLMs change that.

Yup. My personal life is the purpose of my employment (which is already difficult enough.) Ask too much and I'm better off just being an entrepreneur.

This kind of thinking is super destructive too because you'll just panic, turtle, and stop communicating which makes it impossible to get anything done.

At least as of one decade ago psych professors still give that warning. I remember being warned not to do that in psych 102. It's always bothered me a little that everyone seems to completely ignore it.

Oh I didn't realize that. Yeah they need to follow the law or build the thing somewhere else.

Europe does all kinds of things, basing your understanding of chemistry around what a state does rather than the other way around is literally insane.

That's hilarious, I never thought to actually do the numbers. We've gotten so bad at manufacturing and trading it's likely cheaper and possibly easier to hire someone to do the thing.

This was deteriorating before the "trade war" and the Middle East has always been in conflict. I think there's a deeper cultural problem here.

Methane has no Nitrogen in it. All of that would have to come from the air. It's famously very very hard to react Nitrogen that way, I'd be surprised if gas turbines produced it in noticeable quantities. EDIT: didn't see your

Dish washers are even simpler, I'm confident I could build one if I wanted it but since I'm single I just wash my five dishes by hand.

I live somewhere that's never had a smog problem so I'm not super familiar with it but do gas turbines actually generate smog? I feel like of all the classes of heat engines they'd produce the fewest particulates. Is this act

Puts let you hedge long positions, calls let you hedge short positions. Without that you'd have to liquidate much sooner so there would be more volatility. More abstractly derivatives let traders in one asset pay premia to offload risk
