The ugly thing is that you're most likely to get laid off when the market is down. I've argued this with people so many times and I think some of them are finally starting to see what I was saying. btw I don't think getting r

In general unless you're married and likely to have kids you certainly shouldn't buy a home and probably should try to just live with your parents.

I think the current instability is changing that.

Rust is a fantastic C++ replacement but I doubt it will replace much else.

The DOM is a very weird, complex datastructure built around a very particular programming paradigm. Building a nice interface for it to pretty much anything that can't be 1:1 mapped onto JS is very hard. That's why there are so fe

JS was always supposed to be a scripting language. That you could build whole applications in it was a neat hack but never supposed to be serious. I think a lot of people have forgotten that.

In theory. In practice business people have such a poor intuition for systems design you end up with borderline unusable software when you do that.

The AI tools I use generate numerous links, usually 5~10. I'd be annoyed if they didn't. > Can you show me all the people who enjoy the experience of using them more than not? Yes. Most people here have commented that they pref

Maybe I should clarify: It makes no sense from a system architecture perspective. Obviously if you're doing analytics you want to know the difference.

It would be odd if it didn't. Although the goal of homebrew is to execute the code in the repo. The only situation where the RCE here is a problem is if you clone github repos containing data you don't want to execute. That's

Google absolutely is not the only company doing this and if they didn't do it I'd feed the results into my local models to get the same thing. This isn't a "google decision" people are changing the way they use the

Wow. Close to a Qwen3 distill with 75% the size. That's great! I've been using the smollm base models for my own finetunes just because they're so high quality, it looks like I might be using them to drive local agents/c

There is no such thing as privacy on a non-free OS and especially on a non-free OS with a closed app store. We told you this would happen.

That's how people want to browse the web. If you block it you won't even get links from those. That's like blocking the search crawler.

Not a web server but yeah we dealt with it by black listing patterns (IPs, requests etc) from misbehaving domains. We never distinguished automations from people though, that makes no sense on the internet.

Robots don't exist for their own sake, at the end of the day they are user agents for some group of humans. Again it sounds like the people who are upset by this really want to publish images rather than web pages.

I've still never understood the complaint here. Robots are part of the web, the whole point of HTML is that robots can read it.

I'd contest the storage point pretty strongly. Well written web apps can be very accessible too and some companies do actually go out of their way to ensure this.

The only "unbiased" AI is a GPT with no alignment (and even those aren't "unbiased" they're just biased towards whatever is popular on the web which is arguably worse.) The nice thing about Grok IMO is it force

You can run Qwen3 locally today if you want to. It can write whole files if you want (although not with <1 second latency like a sub 1GB model will which is what you want for interactive in-editor completions.)

Not without fundamentally changing the way they think about computing and there seems to be zero willingness among their leadership to do that. In fact they seem to want to move things into the data center. That's why I'm shorti

There still should be a way to share software anonymously. Just saying "it's dangerous so the whole use case is invalid" is retarded, lazy, and if you're an OS vendor benefiting from an app store the way Apple does, mali

Part of me feels like the state should prevent people from building in places like this but we already do so much of that people end up just living in RVs and parking them in places like this which is worse. I wish I had better ideas.

Browsers already do this much better. If you don't trust something that's where it belongs, not as a local app.

Vibe coding sounds miserable. I use LLMs pretty heavily but never as a replacement for my own mind. I'm glad it exists for the people who can't program but it's much less pleasant than being explicit myself.
