I've just been browsing for a bit, but this seems like a really great book! Most "maths for games" books feel like the authors are just regurgitating their university exams. This is very focused on the "why" rather

"10% chance of releasing the magic smoke" made me laugh out loud. Off topic-ish, but maybe someone here would know... I have a 2013 macbook pro. It's still great for coding but recently I got into Blender, and now I understan

Would be great to read a write-up on how you approached it. Also, it seems pretty tight - how are you doing the timing loop? Also also, Great job!

Not to deny your orbs (though, orbs are pretty "common" - like ball lightning)... but I saw 3 flying orbs in the 90s that I thought were ufos (or, one ufo) - like they were kind of linked, but moving independently. Weird looking.

It's not. I ended up putting thousands of hours into Fortnite on iOS too (so glad it got pulled - that stopped me playing!) Playing on the table is one way - but it hurt my neck too much. I preferred the "claw grip" on my pho

Really cool work! I've been thinking about this a lot since I watched this Corridor Digital vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fmJ74774RO8 ... I had no idea where to start, so I quickly gave up. Now you've inspi

The help tutorial is really well done for something that is a little bit complex, and holy heck - that's fun! You can export a "template for texturing" then color it in Gimp, and re-upload it to give it colors and features. Y

Same - especially when there's a rocket launch or other long-running stream. I shrink the PIP view to a tiny thumbnail in a corner of the screen so I don't miss anything.

Maybe it would be good to mention what this project is at the top of this post. What is "Free Hero Mesh"? A mesh network framework? A 3D mesh generator? Something to do with textiles? (I copy-pasted that main link, and it says it&

I'm biased (I wrote a book on it: https://www.sitepoint.com/premium/books/html5-games-novice-t... ), but JavaScript is great for making games: certainly no game engine required, and runs everywhere. Just make

Emacs has been life changing for me in this regard. It's ugly and brutalist and weird - but also beautiful! Everything I do (Email, slack, GTD, project planning, time keeping, note taking, typing this comment) is done in one program. I

This looks intriguing! Though, very niche: I'm both a JS dev, and an Emacs user - but I'd personally prefer to stick with Lisp... buuut, couldn't we have a LISP->JS transpiler and get the perf benefits without the JS? :) O

I was wondering what the effect of imposing a "minimum time to reply" would be. For instance, if I wanted to reply to your post - I would need to indicate my intent to reply, then after X minutes (at least 15, but ideally more) I

I'm not a bitcoin fan, but every bitcoin bubble for the last 10 years has people saying "lol, tulips". When it popped to $1: tulips. When it popped to $100... tulips! Then $2000... TULIPS! Then $20000, then $40000... TULIPSSS

We ran the VST synths through the same signal path as the Juno (as a test - with good DACs)... but yeah, I've long-since given up on hardware synths: they're fun, but just take up too much space. I miss combining the sounds though

I used to dabble with making tunes with a friend - we had access to a Juno 106, and a couple of Juno VST plugins. We'd do a bunch of takes with both, and then later we'd choose "blind" which versions to use. The real thi

Years ago I had a genius idea of making a USB-powered mini shawarma machine that you could have on your desk, and shave off bits of meat during the day. Sometimes I still lay awake at night, wondering if that would have worked.
