> Yes, you can scale the offense up to the point where most would answer yes to allowing this. So, you are saying the judicial system should only use evidence depending on how severe the crime is? That is a very poor precedent.

I think that's a bit of a bad argument, maybe a strawman. The whole point of the law is to make good citizens so we can all live together. It is in the best interest of both individuals and a community as a whole to not break the law.

I can't believe I am the minority on this, but I don't see a problem. This woman volunteered her DNA. She has committed a crime in the past. Is it a misuse of DNA if a criminal is brought to justice, where that DNA was literally v

I agree that a clock should absolutely open faster than a browser, but it would be good to know what this metric actually represents. I don't know much about this style of universal binaries, so I don't know if the binary being &q

Without reading the article or data, but wasn't there a huge push in the US to defund the police? Did that go anywhere?

At work, my development team is contracted with a company that uses AWS, and for better or worse, we have also become the devops team. We have been burned by AWS before, and we have a rule of thumb: if you are deploying new functionality&#x

I think the test of sentience should have at least this criteria: - Understanding of the passage of time - Independent activity, without prompts - Has self understanding of it's current inputs, like a camera I don't think that

I had this idea a while ago, and it just never materialized: - Every player can use their tablets or phones, and as many as they'd like - Each device can be assigned with different controls - Wasn't sure if this would be dec

In the very late 90s and most of the 2000s, I hung out on qbasicnews and eventually moved to the freeBasic community. I even learned "basica" (basic advanced) from an old IBM 5150 computer originally. A lot of the reason I do prog

I think that's a valid approach, too. It might just depend on the interviewee which is better. The inverted phrase is a bit more direct and dominant (which I don't think is bad), so I don't think it fits everyone's perso

Leaving doesn't have to be rude. If there's no reason to work on your interview skills, you can simply say "I appreciate your time, but I don't think I'm a good fit for _company name here_." You don't have

I think a lot of game development companies have lost sight of the charm of basically zero-hardware config multiplayer. By that I mean, one computer (or console), one screen, multiple controllers, and no user names/sign ins. GoldenEye

I appreciate everyone's taste and opinions on UI, but this seems a lot like confirmation bias. Windows has warts. Linux has warts. OSX has warts. I'd say in terms of consistent UI, OSX probably is the biggest winner. Both Linux an

When I tried pnpm last, I was on a react native project (react 14 maybe), and something about the symlinks from pnpm caused me to not be able to build the project (and I went back to yarn). Anyone know if this is still an issue?

CBC is literally state-funded media, and Trudea literally lives in Ottawa. In no world does he have an excuse to be blind, and even in some sliver of hope where he honestly didn't know, why didn't he make a public apology?
