Is that a 'should' as in best practice, or a 'should' in terms of a RFC for a mailing standard? The reason I ask is because I'm pretty sure lot's of sites (invoices/receipts/newsletters) send out stu

Comment rating systems are purposefully gamed by "paid" actors -- fake accounts, likes, etc. They aren't foolproof for preventing misinformation as such. Also, it's rather also disingenuous to write off an entire comment

A singularity is by definition a superintelligence, no? A company (corporation) is just a legal structure of a bunch of people. If a company does something amazing, it's the people behind it in the company responsible -- not the compan

Why does Facebook need your banking info and SSN? And how in the seventh circle of hell would they feasibly brute force the correct information?

Curious how you manage to do this? Do you use apps, rooted OS, proxy sinkhole, etc?

I'm definitely excited for this, considering I couldn't fork out the thousand of dollars needed for using IDA. I can't really justify that on a small hobby project (reverse engineering games).

I agree with you, yeah. The problem is sometimes you have to go back to old code and optimise it, because today's performance expectations are higher than yesterdays -- whether because hardware has become more powerful or software is b

The cost shouldn't be 0% or 100%, but the percentage chance of getting the reward, multiplied by the value of the reward. IOW, E(X) = P(X) * X, so a 50% of 100K is effectively a 50K payout. The problem is P(X) is unknown, and you only

If I recall correctly from an economics class yay days ago, it doesn't matter if the seller pays the tax or the buyer -- the effective cost is shared (fewer buyers too).

The difference is "hidden from the public" vs "hidden from every human being every living". If there is a perpetrator/victim, there's at least two people that can break out of the nd/hush scenario. And, we

It's actually a big issue in any performance critical regions of code. I've come across this in both the network stack and the file system (user space and kernel). Switches can sometimes be optimised away into O(1) using clever st

I'm just advocating for the simpler and less costlier solution, speak with your wallet and remove yourself as data from the system, and encourage others. Definitely don't send any money to these companies, as that's a lost ga

I don't think that plan follows awfully well, why on earth would you pay money for services for the sole intent to game their database into inefficiency? A spotted chance of that even working, at best you've given them money for n

I'd largely echo your sentiment, but luckily our professor had a hands-on attitude. This involved actually coding things that used those concepts. We had to implement a non-recursive DNS resolver and a FTP server. Reading the RFCs and

I'm not sure that's a complaint, rather than a fact. A complaint would be something like: X does not have a Wikipedia page -> X is not a good fit. It's more of a factoid, you see :-) Curious why you bring up language anywa

Not to defend the guy you're replying too, but it's quite a stretch to imply the author is in jail - or on the chopping block for, even. The quote you originally had shoots down your complaints anyway, if you're upfront about
