Yeah all of the above pretty much. A huge sense of relief, like having an answer to a question that had been bugging me for ever. We’re still working through medication, figuring out the best dosage etc, but it has been a big improvement to

If you think you may have adhd, and if you have the means, see a GP about it. I was diagnosed about 6 weeks ago and wish I had sorted it out 15 years ago when I first suspected I had it. I’ve probably got a long way to go before I can give

As an SRE, please don’t use this for internal tools to be cute. It’s not helpful, and in 5 years time when you’re long gone and something breaks at 2am, it’s incredibly frustrating.

I get why AI people are at pains to say that GPT-* isn’t AI, and that agi is still a long, difficult way off, I do understand that the distinction is important. But ChatGPT has become such a useful tool to help explain a concept or to filte

There is a saying that brewers make the wort (unfermented beer), and yeast makes the beer. You could have the same wort and use two different strains of yeast and end up with markedly different beers.

I’d recommend looking up a local farmers market if you can, the stuff in the supermarkets isn’t anything special most of the time, whereas you can find some amazing bread / cheese / butter etc at the markets. Also some pretty aver

I made the ‘risky’ decision to learn Elixir & Phoenix for a 6 week University project that I delivered earlier this week. It could have turned out to be a terrible decision but honestly once I got my head around it, it’s probably some o

Maybe it’s just because I’m also based in Melbourne, but I’ve worked for two or three places that use cultureamp, it’s a pretty solid service to help manage personal development goals and employee surveys etc. I even used to work for a comp

It’s actually not that uncommon for people with the same type and level of job to congregate and discuss - or conference - together to learn and socialise with each other.

As an Aussie I find the American pizza scene so interesting - so many regional variations, I’d never heard of this thin style crust pizza until I saw Kenji posting on his Insta about it a while back. Looking forward to making it sometime.

Great idea for 95% of people, but just a reminder if you’re reading this and have a toddler: they are obsessed with dishwashers and will find a way to try and eat that soap. Or maybe it’s just mine. Our dishwasher is shut and turned off at

That sounds horrible, something I don’t ever want to experience. I’m sorry you had to go through that, you’ve just convinced me to start including more lemon juice in my diet.

I’ve tried roasting my own coffee beans in the past, honestly couldn’t tell much of a difference over time - they were all equally bad, as it turns out I’m pretty terrible at roasting coffee.

I’ve gone down to 4 days, taking Fridays off to look after my son, and I certainly won’t be going back to 5 days until he’s in school. Looking after a toddler all day isn’t exactly a day off, but it is extremely rewarding, and something I’d

Funnily enough I’m studying a cyber security course at the moment and had to find examples of social engineering for an activity, and came across this yesterday. I shared it with my classmates and they just couldn’t believe that MailChimp b

Watching the linked video made me realise how out of step I feel with the rat race now that I work from home 100%. No more stressful commutes, no more suit and ties. I might step into a giant shopping centre once every 3 months, if that. I

Yeah as an Aussie I don’t think the bin chickens are reviled at all. It’s more like we don’t necessarily agree with the way that they live their life, but we respect them for living life on their own terms.

My god, I worked for a company that worked in the HR space and they really lived this to an extreme, and I’d say we lost an hour a day to forced laughs, forced jokes, and forced feel good moments. I’m pretty sure it’s what triggered an anxi

You absolutely will have to leave details out - the HR person scanning through 30+ CVs doesn’t have the time or interest in reading through 3 pages of your work history to see if you tick the boxes they’re trying to match. You don’t have to

200g of tomato per 100g of ketchup is a very weird way of putting it, but if I understand how they’ve written it to mean 200g of tomato goes into each 100g portion of ketchup, then that’s basically 10g of tomato solids for each 100g of ketc
