I don't know enough about protocols. Will the compiler stop you if you misuse them?

Is swift not polymorphic enough to re-use the same static method in multiple places instead of needing to dynamically generate new ones?

I played through the single player, but like you I think I preferred doom. That said, half-life mods were imo the golden age of gaming. Vampire slayer let you scare the shit out of your friends at 3am in a LAN. Day of defeat and firearms

The opinionated people I disagree with sure like saying "language doesn't matter", as long as it preserves their status quo.

I don't buy that type-checkers would look at the value null, and say "Yep, that's a String/Integer/User". But here we are.

There's an obvious solution to "language doesn't matter". Let the opinionated people pick the stack. Then you satisfy the needs of the people who care and those who don't care.

It would be necessarily so. A creator would need his own creator if you buy into the sentiment that we require a creator.

Well I could switch to a programming language that isn't so slowed down by ahead-of-time compilation. Maybe a JIT language?

Agnostic ("not knowing") is just a label. How do you act in the real world? If a Book says not to eat the bacon, do you stop eating the bacon because of what the Book said? You can't be agnostic about bacon.

I second this. The original value proposition of DI (dependency inversion) was that you could write your tax logic and unit-test it without the code knowing that it's talking to MySQL. Injecting your dependencies into your constructor

It certainly tells me it does. i can hit 'run unit test', sit back in my chair and zone out for 5 seconds, then come back and read that the test took 22ms.

Cache usage won't be known statically at compile-time. If you retrieve one item from a database, it will result in a different usage of the cache than if you retrieved a different item.

I grounded it. Any problem can be swept away with "you don't know what you're talking about", "you'll come around to my way of thinking when you're older", "X has nothing to do with Y", etc.

Deadlocking was raised as the objection to using public instead of getter. But in regard to deadlocking, using public is strictly better than a getter. You have to take a lock in order to deadlock in the public version. In the getter ve

Given your Coord example, can you come up with a better OO version than the article's advice of "can I make it immutable"? The immutable version would let you have all four fields. A setter on any of the 4 items (should you
