Good. Compute engine is crazy fast because all of the hardware isn't over allocated. Go ahead and use Amazon, I hear good things. :-)

Companies don't pay overtime. Those numbers cited would never happen. Instead, employees would simply lose the freedoms they enjoy now to work hours that suit them or spend company time learning. I was hourly once because my company wa

Well, one reason: because if we had the freedom to use any ebook reader we wanted, then we wouldn't have to rely on Adobe spyware. DRM prevents that.

Dude, I'd love to get Google Fiber even if I had to wait for it. Get cable installed, make sure there's no contract and wait. There's a lot of stuff they have to build first and those of us stuck with crappy cable service wil

So, years ago I felt trapped by the success I had built to that point. But I also felt that it was all meaningless and I wanted to something more important. I needed a mission. I gave up everything to go pursue that goal. (It turned out tha

Yesh, I recognize some of the thinking in this post, and trust me, you're going about it all wrong. Until you figure yourself out, you're not going to make meaningful relationships or be happy in them. You need to find what define

I am also the odd one out, also with a System76 laptop. :-) You might try Cinnamon for a DE. I've found that it's not the same if you install the Ubuntu packages, it's best when packaged with Mint. But I bet you'll like

Out of the box it is not great, but it can be tweaked to get more. Mine is plugged in most of the time, so it's not a big deal for me (and is still much more than I get on most PCs).

I just got a 13'' MBP and put Linux on it. The hardware is great and well supported, but you'll still have a bit of a hard time getting the boot in order. I tried to fully wipe out the OSX partition, which I ended up reinstal

My work laptop is a Macbook Pro 13'' also running Linux, so I feel like I can compare them. :-) I maxed out a Darter. I am happy with it and it was much cheaper than a comparable featured Macbook. It is crazy fast and I was happy

I wouldn't risk the pain. You'll have to do a fair bit of research to figure out how easily Linux can be setup on a given laptop, and if you'll have to deal with the UEFI secure boot madness or not. I just got a laptop from s

Heh, well that's the point of the LTS release. It gets security updates and patches, but those releases are not designed to stay current. If you want current software, don't run old releases.

Worse than printing somewhere remote, many of those are probably also scanners. If the original is left on the glass (I forget it all the time), an attacker could scan it remotely.

The amazing thing is how much memory the app can take up. Forget the UX issues, it is urgent to fix the outrageous memory usage first. For example, my old phone had just about 100M available for user apps. Facebook uses about 121M. That's e
