Being at a startup for 10 years had the advantage that I'd frequently run into some of my original code. My favorite real life naming example: IDataProcessor. And if you need the raw data it will be several layers deep in dataProcessor

To get worse than COVID you'd need a virus that takes a long time to develop symptoms and then has a high death rate. In that scenario there would be a lot more public fear and we'd have an easier time keeping people at home. So

If this was an interview I'd say dictionaries aren't O(1) but one popular implementation of this collection is.

Since there is still widespread doubt I wouldn't put it in the same category as the early iPhone critics or even Facebook is the next Myspace crowd.

A good CMO has someone hounding the engineers to do write ups like this. A great one makes them post from their own accounts.

For sure. It's like going to interview someone with the previous interviewer telling you every has hated them so far.

It's easy to make fun of UI changes but... reddit on mobile without using their app is near unusable. You can't see all the comments and both the top and bottom of the screen is telling you to use their app.

I don't see too much that Facebook collects about you that Steam doesn't. If you aren't using a Facebook desktop app Steam probably knows quite a bit more about you actually. If you are really concerned about your "real-

I don't see Facebook alone in this. The whole gaming industry is headed this direction. Most of my game purchases are in Steam. PS5 has a digital only version.

By web version I'm guessing you mean server side? Server side was a few python components with lots of tricks in Postgres for scaling purposes. You didn't have any real choices for what language you used in iOS

I think the arguments will be - FTC Approved these as as legitimate acquisitions - Facebook has direct competitors that can overtake them in just a few years - Instagram was made by a few python coders in months. This shows how easy it is t

That same perspective shows that the industry has evolved since then. If FTC can't be held accountable for not predicting the future neither can Facebook. Of course, I don't believe this at all since anyone in the industry knew ex

The headline refers to "incrementally updated materialize views". How does a company get funding for a feature that has already existed in other DBs for at least a decade? E.g, Vertica refers to this as Live Aggregate Projections.

It sounds like the author has more experience in certain areas than others so prefers to mitigate the impact of those in his release cycle. This was written a year ago. I'd be interested to know if he changed his mind on any of these y
