Does a foxhole protect from the overpressure blast of a nuclear explosion? With fragmentation grades, you're getting behind cover that will absorb the shards before they hit you--cover can't do anything about a wave of pressure.

If you read the article, in at least one instance someone ended up with a broken jaw. That much force is definitely enough to kill someone, it would just depend where they were hit and their baseline health. Imagine a child standing next to

Well there's this infamous interaction which is shown to most U.S. officers during their training: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOSELcrJ7Kw Admittedly, the officer starts the interaction with a command rather than a

I think the general public is unaware of how dangerous physical altercations are. The antisepsis of staged fight scenes on TV make it seem like any well-trained person can recover from a tussle and be back to normal by the next scene. In th

I live right by here and had actually noticed an odd sign in the window of that shop referencing some problem with car key fobs and that "the police are aware". Maybe I'll stop by and take a picture tomorrow if I have time.

Aye, which supports the argument I was trying to make even more strongly. We will not realistically replace drug discovery as currently practiced in academia and industry with open source efforts.

The resources required to work on open source software: a computer for maybe $200-$300, an internet connection, and curiosity. The resources required to discover a new therapy and prove that it is safe and effective: Literally hundreds of m

Got in a shouting match with a cabbie once in Chicago for this same thing and when I opened the door to get out after he insisted repeatedly his machine wasn't working, he threatened to kill me if I didn't pay. Then, when I threat

There's no maybe. You're weird. Nearly all maps we're exposed to growing up have North at the top of the page. However, you would be right at home in this segment of West Wing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=

LibreOffice Impress is horrifically bad. The Undo function is unreliable which is an enormous data-destroying pain in the ass when editing a presentation. The tools for editing text and vector graphics are also inconsistent and buggy.
